Sighting in my new SAS

Two weeks ago took my then new P365SAS to the range, no one could accurately fire this thing, even at 15 feet. So, bought a laser bore sighter and it seems like it's aiming a foot high at 12 feet. I shimmed under the front of the Meprolight sight, and now it appears to be dead on. Once I can get to the range, I'll know, otherwise it's off to Sig land.

I've had no issues with the Meprolight sights on my P365SAS This is the results of my last trip to the range. Target at 7 yards shooting 147 grain ammo.

I have a 365. Got an SAS, couldn't hit anywhere near the bull, 15'. Too old to learn how to use their sights. Put it up on consign went fast. Can hit a gnats *** with the 365 out of the box. "Just saying"

P-365 SAS Slide Assembly

I recently made the mistake of purchasing a P-365 SAS slide assembly direct from Sig Sauer to upgrade my P-365. After 40 years of experience with firearms I broke my rule of never purchasing a gun or new upgrade without first trying it at a range. Regardless of how hard I tried I was unable to get a satisfactory shot group with the SAS green dot sights. I am also concerned at the length of time it takes to get a good sight picture with the green dot sights. I am going back to the original slide assembly and sight, and place the SAS slide assembly on the gun safe shelf to remind me to not make the same mistake twice.

nilla, get yourself a MagLula, like right now. I'm not sure Iron Mike McGurk could load those mags with his fingers, especially when new.

Bigborgel, try the sights since you have made the adjustment, but be apprised that boresighting a pistol, especially a small one, may not tell you where it hits. A pistol describes an arc in recoil, and the bore and the sights may not correspond.

Grabbed an SAS because the sights on my regular 365 snag coming out of a pocket. I discovered that, in good light I could get good hits at 21'. In poor light, I couldn't hit squat. I'm not figuring on all my gunfights being in the Mall.
So my SAS is on the shelf, pending the end of the current craziness. I'll likely send it on its way.

Howdy Moon,

You know I pocket carry too. The Alabama Holster hooks really good into the bottom of your pocket when you draw. As you draw, the holster is beginning to come out of your pocket. The holster prevents snags. And it is oh so comfortable.

Regards,

Dave

I had a SAS and could not come close to point of aim. Sold it to a friend with young eyes. He shoots it much better.

A range buddy of mine recently bought a SAS 365 and brought it to the range this morning. Three of us shot it...none of us could do much with it even at 7 yards... The owner was new to the 365, but I have EDC'd my standard 365 for more than a year and have no trouble with accuracy even out beyond 15 yards with mine. That sight on the SAS is something that I thought I'd really like. Unfortunately, that is not the case... My buddy was pretty disappointed and honestly I was too.

UPDATE:
Bought a new P365 slide with Sig night sights, it went right on the SAS frame like butter. Think I will remove the Meprolight FT sight, install a mounting plate adaptor and put Sig Zero on it, this way, it's almost like having 2 guns, one with open sights, and the other with an RD.

So, I keep reading quite a mixed bag on the P365 SAS model. People seem to either really like it or hate it. I recently acquired one even with the understanding of the current perception of this pistol. I was genuinely curious about the SAS. I like ported pistols but never used a sight like the one on the SAS. I wonder if people's expectations for this pistol aren't being effectively managed. And, not just by Sig's marketing department but by the people that work at gun shop counters then finally the buyer.

The way I see the SAS is akin to a snub nosed revolver. Or, an elaborate belly gun. Yes, they are pricey to be considered a belly gun and you can get a S&W 642 for less money but with less capacity and challenging trigger. The sighting system seems to be the sticking point for those dissatisfied with the pistol and it is a dramatic departure from what we are all accustom too. Since I have not shot my newly acquired P365 SAS, I cannot credibly comment on how I perceive the whole package to function. However, if the point of aim/point of impact can be found with a load that's reasonably good for self-defense then my expectations would have been met by this niche weapon. And, I think that is an important key to getting the SAS to gel harmoniously with the shooter, is finding a proper self-defense load to print POA/POI.

I am hoping to report back on my theories about this pistol to be positive.
