Buying a 365 in KC, KS

My son has only shot my guns a few times and now wants to get his own handgun. I know enough to recommend a 365 to him, but I can't go to the dealer to help him select his purchase. He is in Kansas City, Kansas, and I am in California.

I know there have been lots of changes since the 365 was first introduced and wish him to get one born after the gun has been debugged. Is there anything he should look for and can anyone suggest a KC, KS dealer? Is there a problem back there with them being out of stock and should he buy online?
'
Thanks.

If he can find one in a store it should be brand new. Anything 2019 and to present should be fine. The manufacture date will be on the box.

Very frequent question- just peruse the p365 forum for the same answers you'd get in this thread.

Anything in store is going to be as new as it gets. 365s are the top selling pistol in America and dealers cannot keep them in stock due to overwhelming demand. Plus they all have their born date right on the box.

Unless something gets lost in inventory, anything new in a shop should be good to go.
Finding something IN inventory may be the challenge; the P365 has been in demand, and anything with a muzzle is selling right now.

I was in Olathe the end of last week. I was looking for a 365 XL. I called every gun store in the Overland Park/Olathe area and the only place I found one was Penguin Pawn in Overland Park. It was the last one they had.

Several stores did have the 365 or 365 SAS in stock. But that was last Friday. If you are looking for a place where he can shoot it? That I can't answer you. But if you're looking just to buy/hold one, my suggestion is just to start calling around.

Good luck with your search for a P365. Your son will love it.

Itís been a long time since Iíve been in the KC area, but when Iíd be out there on temporary duty and felt like going to the range, Iíd go to the Bullet Hole in Overland Park. LGS and indoor range. And they did rentals, which is why Iíd go there as I wouldnít take the extra time to fly with my firearms given Iíd be spending most of my time on base. So Iíd go in rent a range gun, buy a couple of boxes of ammo, and shoot. Someone I knew out there had recommended the place and they were always pleasant to deal with. That said, I never bought anything from them and havenít been there in over a decade.

Good luck!

I get out there now and then. Pretty sure I remember the Bullet Hole and have been to Centerfire Shooting Sports in Olathe. Last time out I believe I dropped by Quicks. I will tell him to call around for a "new" 365 with a build date no earlier than 1919. If no one has one, I will tell him to get on the list to buy one at the going rate. Thanks.

Donít know about Buds, but Iíve ordered guns online from interstate guns, sportsmanswarehouse, Osagecountyguns (a P365xl), tombstonetactical, etc, and always got fresh product.

Be sure to have local FFL info ready to submit with order or as follow up email (what I had to do with Osage). Youíll generally find better prices.

I recently bought a Kimber K6s on line from Gunbuyer, in Florida. It was the easiest on line buy I have ever made. It shipped with in 24 hours and free shipping. I just checked and they have Sig 365 Nitron in stock, check them out.

We understand that You can't be there to walk your Son through his P365 purchase....
BUT
If he has a connection to the internet tell him to go to the P365 sub forum at SigTalk.

You can email him this link: https://sigtalk.com/p365/

He can surf the 365 threads and spend some time learning about the P365 as well as any other Sig's that may interest him and WE can answer any question that he may have.
The members @SigTalk will take good care of him....
He will become educated about ALL of the P365 Versions and be well prepared when the time comes for him to look for his very own P365.

Well it turns out...Not Always...
There is a Thread right now in that a new P365 owner purchased what he thought was a March 2020 P365 at least that was on the case
However
The P365 that was inside the case turned out to be a November 2018 P365.

There was a Serial # Mis-Match between the Case and the actual P365.

In the end He did get it resolved with the LGS after calling Sig and confirming the Date of Manufacture per the P365's Serial #..
But we ALL Learned a very important lesson.

ALWAYS>>>Make sure that the P365 or any gun you are purchasing and the Case it is in... Serial #'s Match!
This will also erase doubt or confusion of the Mis-Match if later on you want to Sell or Trade that same P365..
