Weird 2022 problem

Never heard this one before:
I've got 5 OEM (Sig Sauer, directly from Sig Sauer) 15-round mags for 9mm Sig Pro 2022. None are giving me mag slide lockback on empty.
I've got two of the Mec-Gar plus 2 mags. They're giving me slide locback every time!
I find that really bizarre.
Searching like hell right now for some more Mec-Gar 17 rounders. They give me slide lockback on empty, and I get no pinch from the wee gap.
Anybody hears of someone with Mec-Gar 17 rounders in stock, please let me now.
Thanks.

Did you pull the factory mags apart & give them a good cleaning? My brother recently purchased a new 2022 9mm & the mags were completely coated in a protectant. I always clean all my new mags, but I was surprised at how sticky his mags were right out of the box. The followers wanted to stick until we gave eveything a good cleaning. Never had any problems since.

I've got 6 OEM mags for my .40 S&W 2022 and haven't had any problems with the slide not locking open on empty. ymmv

The only mag "problem" I have is with my P250c mags. When I insert a fresh mag and give it a tap, the slide will move forward, chambering a round without me touching the slide or the slide release. Not really a problem when you think about it. It actually eliminates the extra step of racking the slide.

Thanks for the replies.
I ordered 2 mags from Mr. Cote.
I can figure out the tear down and reassembly of the mags, but what do you guys recommended for cleaner?
Perhaps gun scrubber or non-chlorinated break parts cleaners?
Thanks.

Thank you. I'll break these beasties down and have a peak tomorrow.
Still putting away the weekend gear and trying to get organized around here. Got a lot of rounds in this weekend ... and found some rounds for sale, too!
All in all, a win.

Sorry but...

"Assuming you are not blocking the slide lock with the thumb"

Did you try taking it down and using a good lubricant in the axle? The little pin that goes inside over the trigger. Or checking if the housing where it sits not too rough?

I'd have to believe it's a "nope" re thumb. Grip's text book. Feels great. Not noticing any striking of my thumbs. Shots are grouping well. Pistol is feeding beautifully. Only malfunction to date is the refusal to hold back on empty magwith the factory 15s. With the Mec Gars, it locks back ever time. Don't think my grip or thumb placement would be that much different with the MG 17s. There just a touch longer. I don't even notice the difference while firing.

Yes, checked the housing; no rough spots. And I use a drop of Gun Butter on the axle. In general, I have found it a lovely oil, although I also have some Zero Friction I could try instead.

I'll tear down a factory 15 or two tomorrow and see if they need a thorough cleaning.

There's a solution there somewhere; just going to have to keep examining.

I love my 2022. It's carried me through a lot of classes and qualifications. Gotta believe this is solvable. Until then, I'll have four MG 17s and can run them. Worse comes to worst, I can send the gun to Sig. There's other defensive firearms in the safe, but damn I like this gun and would hate to be without for any length of time.

What is the round count of your 2022?

Are you shooting 115 gr or heavier?

Sig recommends breaking in the 9mm 2022 with a few hunderd rounds of 124gr or 147gr to work out the recoil spring. Failing to do so will result in many slide lock fails on empty mag. I hope this is what is happening to yours. I've only put a handfull of 124 gr through the pipe and I still have this issue after 500+ rounds of 115gr standard ball rounds. Happens on my OEM 15 round and my MecGar 17 round mag.

I don't remember if the owner's manual recommends this, but I called Sig Customer Serive about it and the above is what they told me.

Thanks for that heads-up. I'm way over 500, probably at 1,000, but all have been 115 grains. Will have to see what I can find locally. I know I've got a couple boxes of 124s in my personal stock. I'll take 'em out next time. Thanks for the tip.

Ultimately, I'd like this squared away, but if it never was, I'd still hold onto the gun. Thing runs and runs, and it's pretty danged accurate with everything I've fed it. Comfy, too.

I like mine as well. I hope that will work itself out. When we can finally get some pistol powder and bullets, my neighbor and I will load up several hundred practice rounds of ball ammo. I haven't decided which load I want to use but it will be some +p 124 or 147. That ought to take care of it.

Let us know how your springs are doing.

The only fail to load I ever had on my 2022 9mm, was with some cheap ammo after 150 rounds during a range trip. The ammo was very dirty and made the ramp feed so dusty the next round failed to load.

I opened the gun quick, cleaned the ramp with a cloth, put it back together and shot all the remaining 100 perfectly.

I have fired over 6000 rounds with my 2022 and that's been the only jam ever.
