Siglite night sights life

We all know that the Siglite night sights have a life span of about 12 years. I have not owned a firearm with Siglite night sights before and I would like to ask from you guys who have owned Sig firearms way beyond the life expectancy of the night sights, based on your personal experience, how long does the sights continue to glow before you change them out or if you just leave them alone after they die out.
Thanks.

12 year half life, so they lose a bit at that point. I have some that are right at 14 years and they work but needs replaced.

They just get steadily dimmer and dimmer each year from the time they are manufactured. By about 12 years, they are getting pretty dim. Just look at them as they are now, and imagine them being half as bright in 12 years. They aren't going to do much good at that point except in the darkest circumstances.

My sights were manufactured 2013. So, it still has 8 years of service use. I would probably be starting to look for or source out the replacement at this point in time since finding these parts would be very difficult on my side. I saw a meprolight set of night sight at my LGS, it's the only one that I saw after visiting several LGS, but I think it would be too early to buy that and store it for future use. I have not seen the manufacturing date but I doubt that it is recent. It looks old stock.

Can the vials be replaced or do you have to buy the whole sight?

I don't know about Siglite. I have two sets sitting in a box after pulling them off brand new guns and replacing with Trijicon HDs. I'm just not a big fan of the same sized dot front and back.

Trijicon sights have a date stamp. My P229 had year "2000" Trijicons, that's sixteen years old, and they still glowed enough to see them in total darkness. I sent them into Trijicon for re-lamping.

I bought a different Sig pistol online, new, and upon arrival the front sight was much dimmer than the rear sight (Siglites). Sig had me send the slide in and they replaced the dud under warranty.

Mine has Slite sights but I'm not sure what this stamp means on mine. My Sig is a 2013 and the front sight has already stopped glowing

The letters "AM" means your sights were manufactured in 2013. 'M' being the 13th letter of the alphabet is the code for 2013.

I can find no verifiable info regarding Meprolight date codes. If the date code uses both letters, "A" would be "0", don't know what "M" would be. If it is a one letter code, I am seeing where "R" is 2009. This would make "M" 2004. But Meprolight has nothing on their site that defines their date codes.

I would love to see a confirmed valid source for this information.

I have a few Sigs way past 14 years and the night sights are still visible but dim.

Ditto -- at least with the front sight, I have replaced with Trijicon HDs on two of my guns.

And for the OP, I think you'll find the 12 year half life is standard on all tritium sights -- AmeriGlo, TruGlo, Trijicon, etc.
That's why I am glad I have purchased a top quality sight pusher (MGW Sight Pro), as with already replacing sights and adjusting windage on other pistols -- this thing has paid for itself.
