I shoot my cousins. He bought it to be able to do a lot of practicing without spending near as much money but still be able to send a lot of lead downrange. His was picky about the ammo that it wanted but once that issue was resolved he has not had any problems with it.

What are your thoughts on a Mosquito?

In my opinion its a waste, buy a P226/P229/P220 in .22 from SIG and send in the voucher for the larger caliber upper when you can afford it.

If you practice with a firearm that isnt what you carry, how does that make you proficient in a defense situation?

Its fun for just goofing of at the range for cheap. It is very picky about ammo but fun to shoot. Flork did some work on mine and it works like a dream. I also have a bridge mount and optic on mine. Ill post a picture later

My range demo gun is a Mosquito - runs great if you don't limp wrist it.

The thing about it is that for the money - it is a basic 22 plinking gun from SIG that is decent for the money, but I can sell you a 22 conversion kit for the same money but you have to have an existing P series pistol for that to happen.

Really great handgun, I practice carry, draw and fire just like a full sized weapon but it's cheap to shoot. When I shoot my SIG Pro .40 S&W it feels the same but without the worry of kick and it make my fire very accurate. I carry both in SIG paddle holsters.

I have a SIG Mosquito... It is very finicky as to what ammo is shot through it... I have had great success with the CCI Mini-Mag. However, that's like almost $7 dollars for a box of 100 rounds at Walmart (I can remember spending $10 for brick of 500 rnds at the local gun shop, back in the late eighties). The more rounds I shoot through it, it seems like it get's less finicky. The groupings are not real tight. From reading other blogs, I share similar experiences with other Mosquito owners. YES it is a fun gun to shoot, and it has the feel similar to my p229, but I wish it was less finicky and a little more accurate like its center fire big brothers. In this week's Turner's ad, I see that it's on sale for $299.98.

I have a Mosquito. I have only shot CCI Mini mags in it so far, about 750 rounds maybe, never had a single problem with it. For a plinking gun I think it's great.

$299 is below minimums, is Turners a SIG authorized dealer?

Turners is actually Turner's Outdoorsman. It's a chain of stores in Southern California. I don't know if it is an authorized SIG dealer...

I've been contemplating the thought of picking one up at Turners. I've always been shooting .45 and it's getting a little expensive. I think I might just pull the trigger on this one.
