When I bought my 229 scorpion, I decided to check all the LGS to see how they compared. They were more than $100 off from each other.
I ended up driving 1 hour to another shop that is a Sig stocking dealer. They were $150 cheaper than my LGS. I have since noticed they are consistently about that much lower on all the expensive brands like Sig.
Sometimes it pays to check the "semi LGS" too.
And before anyone says it, 5-6 gallons of gas still comes out cheaper, and it is a nice drive on a Saturday. Plus, I go past that shop periodically, so I usually time my purchases with a planned trip.
