Semper Fi 6872. I agree that WAPO and the NYT would be all over this normally but I'm thinking us striking an adversary last night will probably throw plenty of shade for a week or so. Good thing is Sig have proven once again to be pros at pretty much all they do.

Just one more negligent discharge. It's good there wasn't more damage done.

Front Sight in Nevada sees a huge number of students yearly and compiles reports of accidental shootings that have occurred there over the past 18 years. You can read about them here:

http://www.frontsight.com/SafetyRepo...howSingle&ID=5

The great majority of these (all but a couple) occurred either during reholstering or during the draw and/or presentation from holster. In the great majority of cases, especially those from more recent years, the pistol was a striker-action such as a Glock or M&P, although in prior years there were a number of incidents involving single action model 1911s of various types. There were also a few that occurred with "SIGs", trigger action not specified (but presumably DA/SA). Several involved the use of Blackhawk Serpa holsters, which Front Sight no longer allows.

^^^Super-important point. Forget to decock and your DA/SA trigger is left lighter than a striker.

That's why when my teenage boys train dynamically, I have them use my 229 DAK. Long trigger pull like a DA, but they don't have to remember to decock.
