A month and counting for my new SIG pistol

I decided to order a 239 SAS from the LGS, to keep business local. I saw several available from dealers online, but sometimes I like to do business locally for the local economy, etc. They could not tell me an ETA, but I figured their suppliers would be stocked and it would not take long.

It has been a month, and no word on availability, so I guess the wholesalers are out of stock and I'll be waiting until the factory decides to run another batch.

supporting local lgs is good when you can but if they have to make a special order & have no idea when the product will arrive, an online purchase makes sense.

It was worth the wait

Well, it came in around 5 weeks after the order. Picked it up the other day, cleaned and lubricated it and took it to the range today, putting about 300 rounds through it. This is the perfect size for me. I have it in a holster for another pistol I have, and the proper fit holster has been ordered. I love the way this shoots, with the DA/SA trigger, no safety, everything about it. It was worth the wait.

FWIW, I have a LGS that I have bought from exclusively for the last five years. Nothing beats the relationship with a good LGS. I've known the owner for over 30 years, and I get all my guns from them. The ONLY exception is a Rem 700 7mm I bought at Walmart, which I turned around and traded for a gun from my LGS. LOL!

Wait for the gun. I know it sucks, but wait for it. This is a really nice little gun which you will be pleased with, I'm sure. Just hang in there!

I buy almost everything through a local shop because I like to see them first and these guys always have good prices. Ordering through them is a **** shoot depending on where they get them. I ordered a 229 legion and waited months, they quoted me 1019 an in the mean time they would call and say they had some in from distribution but the were like 1149, I waited. They said the get a better deal ordering from Sig but never knew when they would come.
The worst part is ordering something and then seeing it at a show while your waiting. I just got back from a gun show after I ordered two of the new colt gold cub trophy's, I was praying I didn't see any there. Fortunately I didn't or I might have ended up with 3 or 4 of them.

Waiting is hard, but I too tend to go to my LGS most of the time. I like the guys there and once you get a rapport with them you find that you get even better deals and things done for free or on the cheap.

Luckily, mine has a good gun smith as well who I hit it off with as I do some of my own smithing. Now when I come in he seeks me out to talk about our latest projects. Just today bought a sonic cleaner off of him (his spare personal unit) because I mentioned wanting to get one. Got it for half what it cost new.

I am trying to be patient and wait for this shop to get me in a P320 X-Five, but man, I have it bad for that gun!

Welcome from PA!

Nice to see someone else that likes small business owners to do business deals and support them.

I always buy local. It always makes me feel better about the purchase and the LGS goes the distance to me happy. It works both ways.... as it should. My last purchase they put away a week while I gathered my funds.... no down.. no paper work. They knew I'd buy and I knew it would be waiting. Considering it was a 320c and a hot item at the time... they could have easily sold it a week sooner. They have my business.

Good for you oneoclock. Glad your LGS came through for you. I hope you are enjoying your 239.

I also purchase from my LGS, we try and support local small business folks.
If something cool comes in used and they know I am looking I get a call.
Picked up a pre B CZ 75 in the original box, the pistol does not look like it has been
shot more than a couple of times-maybe.

Unless it is a significant difference, say $200 then I like to buy locally too and keep as many dealers in business as possible. The Clinton's anti-gun efforts cut the number of FFLs by over 2 /3!!

Congrats on the new pistol.

Living in Maryland, waiting is mandatory, regardless. However I always try my LGS first and most of the time he will meet or beat internet prices when he can. He will also tell me it's a great deal and have it transferred in. His transfer fees are reasonable and his service is great. For that all of my gun purchases go through him, whether I buy from him or elsewhere.
