Good luck and keep let us know what you find.

Agreed. I use to ankle carry a PPK/s and I hardly even knew it was there. I carried it as a back up to the P226 I carried.

Agreed. I couldn't imagine carrying that large and heavy of a gun on my ankle.

This is an example of what is available down here. You could contact him and have it shipped FFL to FFL if you are interested.

I'll state up front that I have never ankle-carried and cannot provide first-hand experience.

That said, I offer advice that I read from a respected expert.

Massad Ayoob says his favorite choice for ankle carry is a S&W J-frame revolver. He says carrying on the ankle subjects the gun to a lot more dust, dirt, sand, grit, whatever - that your feet kick up wherever you walk.
It is his belief that the revolver offers more reliability with exposure to that type of "environment". A concealed-hammer J-frame might be the best choice, and very compact as well with a compact boot grip.

Either way, I believe you will be cleaning it a lot more often than any other manner of carry.

Does anyone know what "Broache" means in Sig language in the description of the 224 Barrel? as in--"Sig Sauer Barrel, 224, 357, Dlc, Broache BBL-224-357"

ok, I figured it out is is "Broached"

"cutting all grooves in one pass with a special progressive broaching bit (broached rifling)"

so how are the grooves cut in most Sigs? Are they all "Broached" or does Sig use other methods? This is my first sig barrel that I have purchased seperately. I had a 229 that had .357 and .40 barrels but never saw the box they came in so I never considered the word 'broached". Anyone?

@GoneBallisticinAlabama or @MalicousCompliance? Anyone?

Yeah, get the 40 and you can easily switch calibers, but as a New York resident it would be wise to get a long term supply of the small (10 round) magazines in 9mm and 40/357 as they may be difficult to find at an affordable prices later.

Got my .357 Sig P224 barrel in the mail today. Several had mentioned that orders from Optics Planet took a while, but this was not my experience. Came quite promptly (with free shipping). Probably because I really did not "need" it (or functionally even want it), just got it b/c it is on sale and going to be more difficult to obtain in the future. If I had been dying to get it, it would have taken 4 months. One thing I have learned about Sigs and Sig parts from 3rd party sellers, when they go on sale they are nearly always closeouts and apply the theory of "get while the gettin is good".
