I just broke down my new Elite in order to install Gray's master springs set and to do some modest polishing of select internals. This was to include the trigger bar but I noted that it and the slide lock lever had been coated with a black and very slippery finish. I decided to leave these parts alone in the belief that I couldn't improve them. Is this new? I don't recall seeing this on my previous SIG's of about ten years ago, Comments anyone?

I've heard it referred to as "super blue".
It is supposed to offer superior corrosion resistance without the drag of the flat phosphate coating used in MK25s and others. Don't know if I "buy it". But I don't expose mine to the environment and mistreatment that even requires phosphate. :D

Only the trigger bar and slide release had this coating. There's no way I could improve it by polishing. The rest of the gun appears to be SIG's excellent "Nitron". Beautiful fit and finish. Just as goo as pistols I have spent $1000's more to buy
