Breaking in P220 Carry

Hello all, just purchased a new SIG P220 Carry equinox it will be delivered to my FFL tomorrow, so you know how the excitement can be

Cruising the site and found a good writeup on doing a lube before firing, anything else I should do?

Also, the gun is new but where I purchased it from will not take a return if I do the FFL transfer, other than a cosmetic blemish anything else I should be concerned with before doing the transfer?

All advice is welcome...

On a new gun there's nothing I can think of that would need to be checked prior to accepting it. You should be able to detect any obvious flaw. If there's a functional defect in the gun, most likely it will not be obvious. Field strip it and look it over carefully before you complete the forms.

You've already mentioned lubing it. With new SIGs, I like to field strip and remove the grip panels and flush out the whole thing with Gun Scrubber. Then I apply new lubricant with a generous amount of grease on the frame and slide rails.

You don't really need to "break in" SIGs but I like to shoot several hundred rounds through a new gun to confirm function and reliability.

Congratulations. Love the P220.

Thanks, I'll do a field strip and inspect. I stocked up on some ammo, so I plan to put a bunch rounds through it

Sig P220s are great pistols! I can't believe how accurate mine is. The Equinox is a really nice looking pistol . Good luck!

Congrats on the new sig. The thing I like about Texas is that you walk in, pick your Sig and walk out on the same day. I imagine the anticipation is killing you. LOL.

Interesting, you must have good self-control or leave the credit card at home, that would be way to tempting for me

I have found buying with cash only helps to curb spontaneous purchases. I do, however, carry enough to place the item on hold for me if the tempation is too great and I know I have the cash at home. I'm always rebuilding the "Squirrel Fund".

LOL. It's a little bit of self control and also avoiding going into the gun stores. When I do go looking, I make sure the wife is with me (so she can knock me in the head when I start drooling).
