Sig Grips

I have my eye on a new P229 SAS. I don't like the looks of the new E grips. Can I change them out to the old grips if I buy the screws? I have a pair of nice black aluminum P229 grips that need a gun to go on.

It is my understanding that the screw holes are still present and changing to to standard grips is possible. Perhaps someone with an E2 model can chime in.

If they aren't, I would want to know, I do not care for the new grips giving a shorter reach. They do not work with my hands.

If I understand what I've read, the E2 grips can be readily replaced with standard grips but you might have to replace the hammer parts on older guns to retrofit them with the E2 grips. But I don't have personal experience in this area.

Count me in as one who really hates the looks of SIGs with the new E2 grips. IMO, they look dorky. I would replace them immediately.

You're Good To Go

As mentioned above, the frames are still drilled/tapped and once the E2 grips are removed, you CAN replace them with plastic, aluminum or after-market grips that attach with screws. Be careful of screw length so as not to interfere with the magazines. Also, if the gun is a .40/.357, there are specially designated grip screws to be used with the 229.

Dogguy is also correct that when going from standard grips to E2s on older guns, they can require changing some parts. These parts do come in the E2 kits available from Top Gun Supply for the 226 and 229.

What is the best grip for a P239? I have the Houge rubbet grip with finger groves but is there something better?

Hogue Extreme G10's are far superior in my opinion. Agressive enough to keep hold and slip free yet not uncomfortable. I personally do not care for the rubber finger groove Hogues at all.

Grips are pretty much personal preference. Like Reliable, I hate the Hogue rubber grips. I like the Nill grips
