Help: SIG Pro SP2022 damage inside of slide?
I recently went to the range and when I was cleaning my SP2022 afterwards I noticed there was a chipped piece of metal inside the slide located on what I believe to be the disconnector or the housing around the firing pin. I was wondering if anybody could please tell me if this is something that is seriously going to affect the performance of my firearm or if this is normal wear and tear. My SP2022 has maybe about 800 rounds fired through. I appreciate any helpful advice in advanced. Thanks (see attached)

I believe that area would be impacted by the safety lever. check it for any signs of damage. for it to be impacting that area could mean it is out of spec.
On the other hand, my p229 has wear on the round part behind where youve indicated. the firing pin blocker. but its a gradual wear as opposed to metal chipping off. yours probably is okay.
if i were you, i would just check to make sure the safety release is okay and if so, not worry about it.

Thanks for your input LittleTex I appreciate it. I think I'm going to take it to a gunsmith just to be safe and see what they say I will report back in couple of days when I have a chance to take it in.

Windy City Sig, welcome to Sig Talk, from the southwest corner of Indiana.
I'm not sure, but did you buy this new, or used? The reason I ask, is because that looks to be an internal extractor, right next to it. That appears to be where someone may have peened the slide to tighten the extractor in it's location.
I would contact Sig Customer Service, and have them get a technician to look at your photo.
I don't believe it's a chip... I haven't dealt with that many Sip Pro models to know if it's a common practice to tighten a possible loose extractor, in that way.
If the Gunsmith in question is not a certified Sig Armorer, you may risk losing any warranty, should you have bought it new, 800 rounds ago.

My Sig SP2022 is suppose to be brand new when I went into the place I bought it I held a used SP2022 but I had told them I wanted them to order me a brand new one from SIG which I believe they did because I saw them order it on their computer, unless they pulled a switcheroo on me, but the information on the side of the case with the manufactured date and serial number all line up with the serial on the bottom of the firearm which leads me to believe that it is in fact new and to answer your question it is in fact an internal extractor and has no LCI. Thanks for your feedback I think Im going back to the place I bought it from and see what they say and if for some reason they give me a hard time I will contact SIG myself. Another thing I would like to add is that I purchased this SIG September of 2016 so I have only had it about 7 months and been to the range with it 5 times.

So I took it to the gunsmith at the place I bought it from and he confirmed just as you
said that it was "peened" to secure the internal extractor. I must have just never noticed it
before so I assumed that some sort of damaged had been done I just wanted to make
sure that there wasn't going to be some major malfunction because of it. Thanks again
for the help.
