I prefer 1-3/4" and that's what I use, and strictly Wilderness belts which aren't leather at all, but are serious belts for the serious user.

Original Instructor Belt

I absolutely love these belts and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to hang stuff from their waist.

The 1.75" instructor belt has been my duty belt for 10 years now, and I own several of them. I liked them so much, I purchased a 1.5" for everyday use.

Even after 10 years of hanging radios, flashlights, gear, pagers, knives, tools, and god knows what else off of it, the belt still looks new and hasn't lost any of its rigidity.

Check out Bull Hide belts. They mke 1 3/4 wide and 1/4 thick belts. This is a single piece of leather.

Nice! I have a Slide Guard, too. Use it for 225, 228, 229, and new M11-A1. Great leather??

Buy once, cry once. I have worn my Milt Sparks belt (sharkskin) for 15 years, with and without a holster, and the wear is unnoticeable. I have considered buying a spare but I'm not sure I will ever need it.

I wear a Jason Winnie 1.5 inch belt. Worn it for years now.... It's the only belt I've used to carry so I can't say it's better than another. It shows no wear or sag. It works with all my holsters.

I own a Crossbreed and a Mitch Rosen marketed by Dillon, I much prefer the Mitch Rosen.
It is offered in 1.25" or 1.5" the 1.5 works best for me.
