I can only load the 15th round by hand, not using the uplula. There simply is not enough space for the last round and the tab. I can get the 15th round in by pushing without the uplula.

I'll give that a try. Thanks.

Yes...many of my 229 and 226 mags need the last round loaded without the uplula.

I had an issue with one of my 3 mags supplied with my new Legion.

As I remember, I couldn't get past 12 rounds loaded. I finally disassembled the mag and found it had an extra plastic follower. Now I have a spare follower.

And when you do, put the magazine floorplate on a hard surface and push the last round in hard and fast. Otherwise you might not make it.

That's what I do.

First time I've encountered the problem. Just my P229-1 9mm phosphate-coated, 15-round, non-Mec-Gar mags.

I just confirmed this for myself. Not doubting at all what you said, just wanted to see if this problem was with all magazines. Cannot get the 15th round in with the Uplula on my P229-1 magazines but it will go in by hand. Tried it on several magazines with the same result, I can load 15 but not with the Upula. All of my magazines are the USA mags, I suspect Made in Italy are going to be nearly impossible to find. Never had this problem with any other magazines.

In my opinion, the issue has to due with dimensional build up (lack of negative margin).
See attached image. With the 14th round loaded and the UpLULA firmly pressed down as far as I can go with significant pressure on my part, there just is not enough clearance between the UpLULA beak and the lips of the mag.

With all due respect to the folks that have replied:

@MalComp, bearone2-if the issue is due to the bottom of the follower bottoming out to the mag floor plate, I don't see how 14 rnds would resolve this.

@Prentice, et al - I have UpLULA model 24222, and it doesn't help. The cant of the UPLula beak reduces the clearance between the top of the beak and the mag lips. See attached photo. In fact, the UpLula website and instructions state "May not load the last round in a few types of mags."

@Mickey - The mags are really P229-1. They do NOT have the made in Italy stamp.

@bearone2 - They are indeed Sig P229-1 mags.

@hodge - I have never had any mag loading issues with my Browning HP, Berretta, Desert Eagle, or Ruger mags.

@Zevyn - Yup

@Sarge1998 - Spring is installed correctly. See previous photo 4529a.

@HAZMatt - Spring and follower are correctly installed. So far, loading and unloading, about 10 times so far, over a 10 day period, has not resolved the issue.

I just have a difficult time understanding how a dimensional fit (lack of tolerance) would be fixed by loading and unloading.

In any event, see the attached image.

Again, thanks for all your replies. Kind Regards, Gary
I am having the same problem with my brand new P229 Legion. The magazines will hold only 14 rounds and I cannot get the 15th round into the mag even with the UpLula.
Just as @GaryJeff says, there is not much clearance for the 15th round. So I thought maybe the rounds were not correctly staggered inside and so tried to shake/hit the mag against my palm to try and get them into place... No luck. It looks like two of the rounds inside are not stacked and rattle inside. I am not sure whats going on?

TIME... that's normally all it takes, for the springs to lose a little tension, and allow that 15th round to go in! Then, depending on the amount of use the magazines are exposed to, one day they will not lock open the slide after the last round... new springs will be installed, and the process will start over!

The rattle, is because, you are going from "double column storage" to "single column feeding" with a slightly tapered cartridge.
