P226 Hogue G10 grips need modifying?

The Hogue site says the Dmascus G10 grips need to be modified for a notch at the bottom of the newer P226s. I want to buy these from somewhere other than Hogue (i.e. used) since Hogue direct prices are so high.

Not much out there on the web about the need for this notch mod, other than what is on Higue's site. Is this a real thing, insofar as the G10 grip needs to be notched to fit the newer P226s?

You need to look at your P226, if you have a Stainless Elite, and a serial # of or higher than 47A146757, then this modification would be necessary. If you don't, it doesn't apply to your Sig.

If yours does fall into this category, I would suggest you order from them, per their notice, as they are not saying they will modify previously purchased grips.

Thanks Willard. I didn't notice the but about it being only on Elite models. Mine is not, so seems I'm safe. I'll check for that notch though.
