P229 scorpion slide to frame fit.

I have a new P229 scorpion that I really like. Several hundred perfect rounds downrange already. Gorgeous gun.

How much "play" is normal or acceptable in the slide to frame fit? I can squeeze the slide to the frame at the muzzle and it makes a definate click, like a teeter totter. It's hard to measure with just my micrometer but I think it's like .009". Whatever the measurement is, it seeems like more than it should be. Before I get upset about my new gun and call Sig about it, Ithought I'd check here first.

One more thing.....when the trigger is pulled all the way to the rear it contacts the frame. Is this normal too?
'Thanks, Jeff

Slide to frame fit it not as critical as it is with a 1911. Barrel to frame lock up is the important fit requirement for accuracy. Some individual Sigs have been known to 'rattle' yet still remained accurate. All of my P series have some play between the slide an frame but none have accuracy issuse that my shooting ability can determine.

Trigger, all I can say is, I never noticed that on any of mine. Many Sigs come with the short trigger as standard now, all of mine are the standard trigger so I am not in a position to make an elaluation especially since I do not know what trigger yours is.

I just picked up a very used KC date code P226. It has a good deal of rattle between the slide and frame, but it shoots like a dream.

As for the trigger, I have a P229 withe the Short trigger installed, and now the P226 with the standard trigger in it. I have not noticed either contacting the frame, but I guess I have never really paid attn.

I will look this evening after work and let you know.

Just checked my 229 elite stainless, also has the short trigger and the short reset trigger.

The trigger does contact the frame. Actually you can see a very small shiny about mid trigger on the frame from it contacting it.

I never even noticed it before this.

Just checked mine and on 5 out of 6 of them, the trigger does kiss the frame. All of the triggers are standard, not short reach, and one of them also has the SRT package. Never noticed before.

Reliable, I think "kissed" is the perfect word. I'm not going no worry about it, it seems normal. I love my scorpion. It is my only semi auto and I can't seem to make it jam.
