Not a direct answer but I have heard the same of 226 magazines, being able to use 40S&W mags for 9mm.

My actual experience is NO. The feed lips are too far apart to reliably hold a round in place.

Yes with the 40 cal /357 Sig magazines for the 2022 you can use 9mm. The 10 rounders will hold 12 rounds 9mm and fit perfectly with out any issues. Go to cdnnsports.com you can buy them for about 14 bucks each brand new

I will be trying my 40cal. mag tomorrow for my 9mm sig pro. I bought one from cdnn to try it. Bullets load into mag fine but there is definitely a wider gap at the top of the mag. I cycled it abut 50 times manually and no issues. See how it does at the range tomorrow and let you know.

Shot a hundred rounds thru my sp2022 today using the 40cal. 10rd mag with no issues at all. Seems to work perfectly!

If you google Megar magazines they have some 17 rd. mags and they make Sig O.E.M. Magazines. Cheaper than dirt, Midway and other dealers may have some. I have seen them as low as $30.

OK....now I am confused. You are trashing the quality of your 2022 in other threads with failures that could be associated with a bad mag, but you say here that using a 40cal mag in your 9mm 2022 works flawlessly? Are your failures only when using the 9mm mag you got with the gun?

***?

I never trashed the gun. I love the gun. The one I acquired apparently has problems...I'm upset and disappointed that I was the unlucky one and it had to be sent back...
The magazines have I have are the factory 9mm mag that came with the gun, an extra 9mm mag I purchased along with two of the 10 round 40 cal mags. I did some research on a few other web sites said that they work holding the 9mm round. And they worked... I even tried them out in my friends 40 cal sp 2022 to make sure they fed without any issues.. My gun didn't work with any of the mags. I even loaded the gun without a mag and still had failure to ejects...

Be thankfull you don,t have a walther PPQ the mags are $58 and the HK wow $$$. All these pistols look near like clones in design ,but some sriker fired and some hammer. I,ll bet the same firm molds all the frames for everybody in Germany. I fired the PPQ side by side with the new Sig . I liked the Sig 2022 better.

Mecgar PPQ mags are $30. Mecgar is OEM for Walther mags.

Hmmm. I just got the 2022 so obviously I need some additional mags. Not feeling good about swapping in .40s&w mags just to save cash. However, I'm seeing the 17 rd mags from Mec-Gar and even though they aren't a flush fit like the 15 rd OEM mags I'd be willing to purchase a couple for range action if they prove to be reliable. Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with the Mec-Gar 17 rd mags for SP 2022 9mm?

I've used the (sigarms) .40cal mags on my 9mm and they work fine with an occasional hiccup on the last round. The slide locks back as if it's empty, but there's still one round left in the mag. I just hit the slide release and it feeds fine. It could be the factory ammo (WWB 115g FMJ), the spring in these mags, or me touching the slide release. But it seems to lock back on me once, every 20 or 30 rounds- Though I only load 10rnds in each time. Some folks around here (California) get edgy if they see you fire more than 10rnds from one mag.
