Choosing to wait for the POW-MIA edition is strictly a personal decision. The 1911 Scorpion is a newer model 1911 they recently came up with. Very nice gun and the prices usually range between $899-950 and as high as $1050. Not real sure as to how the finish holds up on these guns, and if it were me, I would choose a stainless over black model myself. Again your choice, and good luck what ever you decide. And thank your son for us for his service to his country, we are all grateful. I too am an ex-service man!

yogiboobooranger gave you good info. On the class that is what the 1911 designates. All 45 autos based on the original Browning 1911 design carry that same designation.

Yea the gun is Cera-koted..(Spelling?) I have never owned a gun with this coating so unsure of how it will hold up. I saw one for sale on another site after a few hundred rounds were fired through it and it looked a little rough to me. I am very particular about how my guns look. So I try and stay with guns that have finishes that will not show wear as easily as others.

The scorpion looks nice, but I also am not sure how the finish will hold up.

My vote, if he likes the rail and magwell of the scorpion, would be the Sig 1911 Tac Ops.

Its all black, ambi saftey, metal magwell at the bottom instead of it being formed into the grips, accessory real, and 4 mags!

A buddo of mine has one, and I have shot a few hundred rounds through it myself. I love shooting it, and even catch myself buying .45 ammo just to shoot it.

1911 Tactical Operations

Good luck in your search, and thank you son for his service. I and many others are grateful.

Thats funny i was looking at that one last night. Thats a great gun n i like the color---all blk-- i dont have any. I have two tone n S.S. That one is going to be for me -DAD.
I went this morn. n bought the gun for my son. He wanted $1100.00 He saw me comming n know i wanted it. I still O $500.
Getting back to TAC-OPS. I want to get the X400 from SureFireCan. Having that light with the laser, your set. At night for home defence, you always going hesitate before you pull that triger. The light is going to confirm, who the intruer is and the laser will hit the tarage. Cant get better then that.

Looks like Budsgunshop.com has them for $938 with free shipping. you would just have to pay the transfer at your LGS.

I second Buds as a place to purchase, but I guess that is a moot point since you already purchased.

Being that your son is MIL, he qualifies for the LE/MIL Discount, which is substantial. Share with him what you want to do and save maybe 2-300 bucks?

Excelllent choice either way.

Discount for Vets ? I will ask the gun guy. My son lives in New Jersey n i in Delaware. I should of looked for that gun in N.J. n paided [With Discount} n had my son put it in his name. Now the gun will be in my name n then over to my son. I screwed up.
That vet discount works for Home depot n lowes--10% off. My son bought a snow blower n showed his card. They dont tell anyone-I didnt know that.

What's done is done but, when you get ready to buy yours, put it in son's name, let him buy it and pass the gun onto you. He will get the savings then.

Yeah, your LGD is full of BS, and personally I'd turn him in to SIG.

Go to the SIG website and click on the LE/MIL link on the left side of the page. Eventually it will take you through the process right to the district rep. who you call for arrangements.
