Does Sig no longer apply CK to the rails?

I think it is interesting that on my new P220 Scorpion, the frame rails are black. Though, searching the web and YouTube, I see that the rails on the older(?) models have CK to match the rest of the frame. Here's a picture. I dig the contrast and I'm sure the rails have no less protection. I'm just curious for the reason.

This came up a while back and I think the concensus was they no longer cerakote the rails. I'm not sure when the change occurred but I recall reading it here a while back.

Yeah, I just did some digging and found it. Seems like coated rails were having reliably issues. I have yet to break this in; I'm planning to this Monday, I have a case of M1911 ammo I'm planning to use up.

If I think about this logically wouldn't the rails be the first place the finish would start to wear out the most?

Is the inside rail of the slide finished?

My combat is all finished but I do see the wear lines forming on the rails.

However I do agree the contrast looks good.

The slide rails and inside the frame are koted. The top of the frame rails is koted too.

Mine has what looks to be anodized rails. The cerakote stops prior to the rails like your. Feb17 born on date.

Probably a wise move on SIG's part, and IMO, the right way to do it.

Anodizing is, relatively speaking, very thin, and much harder than the thicker Cerakote. If tolerances are "opened up" so the CK'ed parts will fit together and the gun will run reliably, as the CK wears away and the tolerances open up, you end up with a slopper loose fitting gun. By leaving the CK off those parts, the gun stays tight.

I was a little concerned that the rails might have been cerakoted without anodizing beneath until I started looking. I was pretty happy that Sig opted to just anodize the rails. That said, they didn't line up the anodizing with the cerakote well on mine. Near the back of the rails is a line of bare aluminum between the anodizing and the cerakote.
