I used 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to de-oil my slide on my 2022 before I did my letter fill. It turned the slide a flat dull color but when it was all said and done I wiped it down with a rem oil wipe and the dark luster came right back. No adverse effects so far to date. I didn't get any on my night sights so I can't answer you on that.

I have also put it on my W. German 226, and like Kenny said, as soon as you put a little oil on it it looks just like it used to.
I have also used it on an AR lower to do a color fill and it has not hurt it either.
Vintage, are you just using it to clean?
