They were prevented from being imported when Germany slapped Sig for exporting those guns to Columbia. I have seen an increase in price from used P232s at the gun shop. Not much, but no where near one for 3K.
Pretty crazy if you ask me. A mint condition all stainless version usually fetches between $800-$1000. I collect them just because I like them, but wouldn't drop that kind of money for a "gimmick" piece like that. You could have 3 Legions for that price.
From the bidding history, it looks like two buyers got into a war that got out of hand. The amazing thing was one other guy came in at the end with a single $3K bid but still lost to FlyingRedBug...who apparently just had to have it...wonder how far he would have gone to get it?
I had a very rare P232 that I won on GB. Seemed like a regular stainless version until it arrived with my FFL. It was chambered in .32 ACP. Listed on GB a few months later and it sold for over $2000.
The seller relisted it for almost a whole year and never lowered the price even $1.
