I have a P226 in 9mm, but honestly - in your position, I'd go with the P226 in .40, and then get the .357 Sig conversion. One gun, two calibers.

Both are fine handguns. The 226 is a fine 9mm and as a combat pistol they are a top pick by many elite units. The 220 is a little thinner in the grip and a fine packing 45auto Colt commander size. Both are above average in accuracy and super reliable. Having both the Navy 226 and 220r I use the Navy 226 Mk25 for the housegun with the nite sites and the 220r for packing and range shooting . Both are top picks in in there cals. They fit the same holsters. Being a 1911 man I find the 220r more reliable and like the D/A-S/A action better than cocked and locked of the 1911. The 220r is a suberb 45auto as the 226 a suberb 9mm. As far as cal-vs-cal. I am ok with both and they are both proven combat military service rounds with the 9mm the world standard of today.

As stated, both of the Sigs are very nice weapons. It comes down to which caliber you want. Decide on the caliber and Sig has a pistol for you. I like the 45ACP and the 9mm so I have a P220 for the 45 and I choose a P229 for the 9mm. Can't go wrong with which ever Sig you chose. Good luck!

I hope the question is which to get first not which to get, haha

A P226 in 9mm is a great overall firearm. If you are going to the range a lot I would suggest it not only for cost but magazine size. I love shooting my p220, however, it is only an 8 round mag and it seems like more fun with my 20 round P226 tac ops mags

Recently purchased both a 226 and 220. I vastly prefer the sleeker grips of the 220. My 220 is more accurate than the 226 as well.

The P220 is just great, you can get a 22lr slide and tube if you want to save money at the range. I have one and love it.

Those kits are available for the P226, also.
