P226 or P220

Hey guys. Long time lurker, first time poster, lol. Anyways, I have been blowing around like a fart in the wind as weather to get the P226 or the P220. I know the 220 is limited to the 45 ACP and you have 3 caliber choices for the 226. I know the 9mm is cheaper to shoot, but the price point really doesn't matter much as I already am buying ammo to feed my Para companion. Well with that said, let me know what you guys think.

I bought my 226 last week and I am shopping for a 220 as I type this reply. I am hooked. I love my Wilson Combat CQB-SS, it is a masterpiece that fires .45cal and It is far more accurate than I will ever realize. Having said that, I will be buying a few more SIGS before another WC or Les Baer.

If you go with the 226, may I suggest getting the E2 grips, IMO and the opinion of several who have held my Tacops and compared it to the E2, prefer the E2. But everyone has different tastes.

I absolutely LOVE the SRT and highly recommend it.

Post pics of your choice.

I have both the P220 and the P226 (9mm). If I had to get one, I would probably get the P226 in 9mm. I like the capacity of the 9mm.

My vote would be a 226 in 9mm as well. Many say cost does not matter but think of it this way . . .You'll be able to shoot more for the same cost.

I would also choose 226 in 9mm. Not that I wouldn't love to have a 220, but I would just pick the 226 first out of the two.

Welcome to the forum!

I'd also go with the 9mm first, then save for the .45.

I went with the 226 recently. I have one of the new German P226s. I really like it. If I were not such an HK fan, I'd pick up a P220 also. I prefer .45s, but 9mm is so much cheaper to shoot.

Buy what suits your needs/wants, but I have several sigs and all but one are P220s. So you know what my answer is. One of the 220s is an old European model that is in 9mm. It is a great shooting gun. I had it re-finished in CPII

The P226 and P220 are both best of the best pistols in their caliber. IMO you can't go wrong with either. If you can rent/borrow each to try out and see if you have a preference. I shoot my P226 more these days but that is mostly due to ammo costs.

Thanks for the input guys. So far it seems the 226 is more popular mostly due to cost of shooting. Still pretty torn between the two. I think if I do go the 226 route, i'd most likely go with the MK25 for the navy nostalgia. Rjinas, that 220 you have is pretty sweet.

The 220 has been my favorite carry gun for about 5 years now, so that's where my vote goes. You might as well get a 226 and a 220 because they'll both fit the same holster. (Go on! You know you want to.)

This is absolutely gorgeous, is the slide a bit darker than the frame or is it just lighting? Or, my eyes may be too old.

Wonderful gun!
