I found this picture of this steel guide rod for the SP2022 while on the Sig Sauer FB page and I thought it looked pretty sweet. I have purchased one for mine a while back and to be honest I couldn't really tell any difference but I guess I fell into the hype of steel guide rods. I'm not saying that no one should buy one but if someone just prefers a steel one over polymer then go for it. To each his own but I couldn't tell any difference.

Hey Kenny thanks again for the tip on removing the grip. I had messed with it for what seemed like an eternity with no success, I had the thing off in 5 seconds using your method.

Steve Bedaire makes a good solid guide rod. I've had a checkered one in my 245 for years.

I stick with the OEM polymere rods. With Glocks and Sigs 2002's shooting over 400,000 rounds why mess with it. I have seen steel replacement rod units chew them up.

Just a little inside info on removing your grips on the 2022. The little tab inside the magwell is rather stiff. I could not push it in all the way with my fingers so I had to take the handle end of one of our butter knives ( or like ETELLER and use a toothbrush handle) and mash down on the tab at the same time applying pressure to slide the grips off. If you have someone that can lend you a hand in holding the gun for you it may be a little easier. The grips slide off at an angle. I have gotten better at removing them since my first time but it was a bit difficult on my first try. Once you get the grips slid down past the catch point of the tab they slide off easily. When putting the others on they must slide on following the grooves and make sure that the tab fully engages. I know I made it sound difficult but it really isn't once you have done it. Once you got the grips off that would be a good time to check the lubrication of the springs that will be exposed.
Hope this helps.

When I got my 2022, the first thing I changed was the guide rod to a Steve Bedair rod. Ihave been very pleased with the operatoin of the rod. Of course, I am just begging to get accustomed to "plastic" frames too, LOL!

Thumbs up

I just changed mine. Not because there was a something wrong, but previous experience with Glocks. I just donít like plastic guide rods.

It looks neat and clean. The product looks flawless and the fitting feels better than the original guide.

Here are some pictures
