The grip thickness on the P226 and the P229 are about the same. The P226 is just a little longer to accommodate the larger capacity magazine. Here's the best thing to do... go to the range and shoot both the P226 and the P229 and buy the one that feels the best. Hopefully, the range you go to will have the P226 and P229 as range rentals... GOOD LUCK!

will do! in CA I can only have 10 rounds per mag so im already -1 for the larger cap magazine for the 226.
