New P226 MK25

Just picked up my 226 MK25 Navy model. two questions it came with combat sights? I thought it came with Sig Night Sights??
Any thoughts on the difference between the two?

Also any thoughts on what to do prior to first rounds? Does it need to be cleaned and oiled?

Also it does not have the IUD identifier that is shown on the Sig wed site??

Thanks New shooter

The Sig P226 MK25 9mm comes with Black Nitron Finish, Phos. Components, Anchor Engraving, SLITE, UID, 1913 Mil-Std Rail and three 15 round magazines. The UPS Code should be 796681435043.

Prior to firing the weapon, field strip and clean all excessive oil off the internal components.

Well the SIG site certainly describes the MK25 as coming with night sights and UID tag. Did yours at least come with the gold Navy anchor on the left side of the slide? I can't say whether earlier MK25s came with contrast sights and no UID tag, but there was (now discontinued) a 226 Navy model that had the anchor, contrast sights and no UID tag.

Where did you purchase? Was it represented as a MK25 or 226 Navy model. How is the box marked, MK25 or E26R-9-NSWG.

I would certainly take the time to clean and lube before firing if for no other reason than to get familiar with it. I like to scope out the condition before each firing and then look for any changes afterwards; keeping an eye out for potential problems in the making. I've taken to keeping a log on each of my pistols; round count, ammo brand/type, operational issues, visual observations during cleaning.

I have a mk25 box date of 1/12... It had the little matrix sticker on the right side of slide... Gold engraved anchor on left... Sig night sights....says mk25 on the box.. And a certificate of authenticity... So perhaps you have the former navy model?

Thanks all for the replies. In response to the questions,

This pistol states - Sig Sauer Inc. Exeter -NH
Frame made in Germany - Sauer

It does have the Anchor, it is silver. So I thought the Navy model

The box is labeled E26R-9-NSWG P226R, Nitron, Fixed DA/SA.
No UPS and combat sights

I plan to call Sig Customer Service tomorrow to understand the differences compared to what is in their catalog

The older Navy model and the MK-25 are both Nitron finish with the Anchor on the left side of the slide.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but none were nickel or stainless.

Sounds like a MK-24 226 Navy . The Navy before the MK25. The Navy likes to use Mk codes for everything even torpedeo's. There was three models of the Navy the 1986 to about 2000 no-rail Mk24 then about 2002 a railed Mk24 was issued and now the Mk25. All are good. The newer generation Nitron finish is the best and in use about 10years. Look on Sigs website for models .

hmm just looking at my mk25 box again...it has 4 stickers ...one says
mfr1ef82
pno mk25
ser u8$%#$% (serial number)
and the same qr code thats on the right side of the slide

another sticker says in bold font
MK25
p226,navy version mk25,9mm pistol

then another has a typical bar code and the serial number...

and the final sticker has the bar code again with numerals under like a store and the date of 16-jan-2012

nothing about sights or finish...or type of action...not sure what you have..lol ..seeing the E in the front...does it have the one piece "e2" grip?...well i guess one might call the anchor silver..its a very pale gold..and looks silver in some light...what is the date on your box?

E26R-9NSWG, according to the SIG site is the code for a 226 Navy. Did you order or were you told by the seller that it was a MK25?

The railed Navy NSWG is the MK 24 and the box would say E26R-9-NSWG and the ser.## would start with UU. The difference is the rounded Sig -Rail and no smart code tag. Other than that there the same. The New MK 25 as the 1913 flat mill-spec rail and smart code decal,nite-sites. Both shoot the same and have phospated small parts, one piece stainless milled bar stock slides with the new generation Ionbond DLC vapor Nitron coating which the Navy would only accept in the Naval Special warfare orders with the chromed bores. Having all three models of the Navy 226 from the early non-railed MK-24 which was phased out around the early 2000's ,then the Mk24 railed till the Mk25 of present day makes a nice collection. My MK 24 railed was $869 last year and the new MK 25 $929 this year, both came with 3 mags, nitesites, phospated small parts& chrome bores. Both shoot the same.

New P226 MK25

Jeep you are Right On!!!
I just spoke with Sig and they confirmed this is indeed the discontinued Navy model. MK24
The serial number starts with a U not UU, which they said was normal and the slide was sometimes made in Germany not in Exeter.

For Christmas I'll get the MK25 and start a collection like yours.

Happy things worked out this way.

He recommended either the CPL -RM Classic Pistol Laser or the STL-900L Tactical Light/Laser. Have you used them and have any suggestions?

I have a CPL-RM. Nice unit, fits securely on the Picatiny rail. Don't like shooting with it as it's just too jittery (my hand, not the laser). I've used it for training grip/trigger pull.

FWIW, I just take new pistols out of the box, wipe down the exterior and shoot.
My MK25 worked just fine.-Dick
