I dont think that would work. obviously you would need a new barrel, but then you would need a new slide to fit the new larger barrel of the 45. i also believe the 45auto cartridge would be too big to fit in the grip/frame. this means its an excuse to get another firearm! go pick up a p220 my friend! any1 else have thoughts on this?

I think it would be way more work then it would be worth. New 220 will be alot cheaper and easier.

I'm thinking of just trying to convert my .357 to a 9mm but wondering if i need the whole kit for it or just the barrel. I posted that too but haven't gotten any bites on it.

No, one specific reason is there are no 45 mags that will fit in a 226 or 229.

As has been said, Easier to get a 220. Custom modification would probably cost 2x what a 220 costs.

Gotcha... Thanks. Think I'm gonna convert the 357 to 9 and maybe just do the 220. Question is now new for like 1000 or used for like 700?!

If you wan't a sig in .45 cal it's either a P220 or P250 or get into a 1911. Some very different options.

Not a fan of the 250's. 1911 are ahight so if if or when i do go .45 it will be the 220.

I love my 229 in .40. she is my nightstand gun.

that said, if TSHTF, and the Sig is out of reach, I'm more than happy with the Remignton 1911.

I know quite a few people that say go .45, go 1911 or go home. I'd dearly like to compare a 220 to my 1911, or Sig could come up with a double stack full metal .45 and solve my dilemma.
