Internal or external extractor?

Have an opportunity to buy a Sig 220 full size in all stainless steel. Has the internal extractor, under 5000 rounds thru it, with wood grips and Hogue wraparounds and orig. box for about $700. Bought confidently from this guy before FTF. Should I wait and pay more to get one with external extractor or jump on this?

It wouldn't matter much to me either way. I've had great luck with both.

At 5000 rounds, there are other, routine replacement considerations that I'd be more interested in than the extractor.

External extractors are typically more reliable than internals. But I'd be more concerned with giving the frame rails a close look with 5000 rounds through it. If it's been taken care of, it should be fine. Use this as a guide: Search Results frame rail wear : Grayguns by Bruce Gray
