Typical Sig mismanagement in the Cohen era. If they're having this much trouble with it, I definitely won't be one of the beta testers. This is a gun that the prudent buyer won't touch when/if it finally hits the street. One only needs to look at Sig's last 5 model releases to understand why.

Being new, my knowledge of SIG history is a little thin. The last 5 model releases would be: P938, P290, P250...?

Would you consider investing in a 224 to keep in the box (warts and all) for a future "collectable"?

I'm hearing August. I'd much rather there be a few delays than have these things dumped on people with problems. I give much credit to Smith & Wesson when they released the Shield. I haven't heard of any problems with that pistol whatsoever.

The day of collecting new production Sigs has passed. Back in the day, they were something special and worthy of collection.

The P224 may ultimately end-up being a quality-made, reliable pistol. I hope it is. After it's been out a while, and gains a good reputation, I might even buy one. But not when it comes out.......

So, what are the last 5 SIG releases? Were my three guesses correct?

I agree, 2 gentleman that I shoot with weekly actually showed up last night with new carry guns. One with the Shield in 40, the other with the new XDS in 45. Both performed great out of the box. We didn't put to many rounds through them, but we will see over time how they hold up.

I hope the 224, when released, performs well. Could make a very nice carry piece if it does.

when i went to the closest range by me last week or so the owner said that they should be in any day now. but i heard that the DAK will be available first and the traditional DA/SA (what i want) will be out cira September.

Sig is desperately trying to get the .40 DAK out before the 2013 SHOT Show to avoid the humiliation of explaining why not. If the gun sells, there will eventually be a DA/SA but it won't be this year. Summer/fall of 2013 is the earliest you're going to see one (if ever.)

There's plenty of collectible new production SIGs out there. Give Afton Arms a try.

Those aren't production Sigs. They are special-order guns made in small batches. Entirely two different things. I have bought several guns from Afton. I'm not interested in buying through them again.

Not production? They're "produced" aren't they. That means they are currently available.

Don't buy from Afton then. That leaves more for others.
