Took my Sig to the range ...

I took my Sig P220 Elite Carry to the range today. That pistol is a pleasure to shoot - to bad that 45 ACP ammo is getting so expensive. No malfunctions or issues of any kind. Just a lot of fun.

I can still find some .45's up here for about 19.00 per 50 up here....That is coming to a close fast though, otherwise all over 23.00 per box. Glad you love that 220 though!! Gotta love them single stacks!

Sounds to me like you guys have a reason to start rollin' your own.

While the initial cost of the press/dies, etc. seems expensive, it doesn't take long to pay for itself if you shoot much. Once the brass is collected, I'm loading a box (50 rounds) of .45 ACP/FMJ for around $8.50. 9mm is running in the neighborhood of $6.50 a box while .40 S&W is about $7.50. All of these costs are with FMJ bullets.

As you can see, the savings is more substantial with .45 ACP than it is with 9mm, but it all adds up in the end. Many reloaders contend that they really don't save money...they just get to shoot a lot more for the same cost.

Reloading is great if you shoot a lot. But for those of us like me who only go to the range 5 or 6 times a year, reloading isn't feasible.

45 ACP ammo certainly is getting expensive. I still remember when I could get American Eagle 45ACP for $10.95 a box... but then again, that was probably 25 years ago... Probably Walmart has the best 45 prices if no sales are going on... If you see a sale, buy as much as you can...

I just started a few months back with a Rock Chucker and .45 ACP dies. I had 1000 loaded before I knew it. Just now getting around to reloading as most of the first 1000 was with new componets. Starline brass is my favorite but you have to backorder now to get any from them they are so busy. Graf and Sons is also a good place for supplies with a single $5.95 shipping charge. Have fun reloading!

You should have asked.........plenty of folks could have told you so..........

edit: Like I'm some kind of expert....I bought my first Sig back in February. It was a beat up old 228. Turns out to be my best ever shooter. I have a 220 on my mind.

Just got my first Sig last week (also a 228), and I'm already thinking about picking up a 220 now too!

Make friends with other reloaders and buy in bulk. That's what we do out here in CA. You will notice a big drop in price when you start buying items in 10k lots and powder in 8lbs cans
