New SP2022-Possible Problem

Hi, recent new handgun owner and just took the new 2022 out to the range today. Shot great but when I took it back home and cleaned it up, the slide seems to be behaving odd. After being released, the slide is able to notch back into a secondary position, slightly exposing the guide rod, and will stay there on its own.

Not sure if this is normal behavior or if anyone has experienced this and knows what might be going on with it. Thanks for any insight into this one!

Had the same thing happen with my 226....telling you it needs to be fired more and broken in a little better...imho.
After a while, mine just fit and operated better after a few hundred rounds.
I think it's just a "everything needs to work in" beyond the outta of the box specs.
My take down lever still sticks occasionally, but it's loosening up...closing properly more ofetn than when it was new.
Mine took about 500-600 rounds to break in...as I remember.

Shoot more and see if it works out your problem.

Or call Sig Customer Service for a warranty question.

Great to hear that, guess it's back to the range for me then.

Thanks for the quick response.

A lot of new 2022 owners (including me) have had a problem getting used to putting the slide back on.

The slide doesn't go back on exactly as it's taken off:
You've got to push the slide all the way back until it cocks the hammer; then push the take down lever partially into place. Then, line up the notch with the take down lever pin hole (like how you had to do when taking the slide off) and push it the rest of the way in until you hear and feel it click into place.

Once you've done it a few times, it becomes second nature. But believe me - you're not the first - or last - to have this problem.

If this doesn't explain it well enough, see this thread.
