New SP2022 - No replacement grips?

Hello all!

I am new to the forum, and the new owner of a fresh-from-the-factory SP2022, and have a few issues....It appears that Sig no longer sells backstraps/grips (of any sort), they have (mostly) removed any mention of changing the grip from the manual (i.e. the table of contents lists a page and section for this information, but the page no longer exists, so I have to watch terrible youtube videos to even know what to do), and only includes the grip on the gun itself (no replacements). Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions for a way to bulk up the grip?

I love the way the gun shoots and feels as-is, but have huge hands and was hoping for the large replacement grip the salesman told me about...only to discover that Sig no longer makes them, and the Talon grips people recommend don't add to the size of the grip. I still love my SigPro, I'd just like to make it a bit bigger...

Thanks!

You've bought this recently. The latest version has a B in the product id on the box label. That is "Basic". The larger grip is gone, as well as the holster and night sights.

I bought one last year that had all those items, but it no longer exists as a product code.

I've not seen the grips on their parts webpages, but I'd call Sig CS and see if they couldn't be talked into tracking down and sending the larger grip. Just be sure to be polite and beg just a bit

Cool, thanks so much. I figured it was something like that, but it’s not documented clearly anywhere I could find. I’ll call them on the 5th and politely beg!

You would probably be better off, looking on Gun Broker or Ebay, if you could find what the UPC was for the Large Grip, you could try a search for it, if anyone still has any in stock. Also scan the classifieds here, for someone "selling". Get a few more posts under your belt, and put up a WTB ad here.

In a lot of cases, Sig waits until the cupboards are "bare" before ordering any additional replacement part "supplies", and in the case of the Sig Pro models, they have probably shut down on producing the little amenities such as the different grip sizes, as they focus on the 320 models today.

Yeah, i’ve Been checking for the grip everywhere I can, but no dice yet. I’d love to try the P320...but they’re very hard to get here, and impossible to try first if you’re not Law Enforcement (or military). Thanks!

I'm not in a position to do it until the weekend, but I'll look then at the large grip on mine (bought last year). There is a code on the inside (can't see it without taking it off the gun) that might help. If I forget, pop this thread up or PM me Sunday.

I use the medium, and wish there was a small.

That was my impression when I saw the 2022 9mm with a tag of "BASIC". It was the model that Academy had on sale a few months back. But for $380 out the door, pistol, 3 mags (there was a +1 free), hard case and ear protection, couldn't go wrong, even if I had parted it out (original intention) for spares down the road. But a friend wanted it, so it went away.

Mine must be the older one. They shipped mine with 2 grip sizes and a paddle holster. Also a stainless guide rod. Which I thought was a nice touch. But I had to purchase night sights separately.

Iím not using my larger grip. Never will. I wouldnít be opposed to giving it away if Sig doesnít have any lying around. I feel like they will have some however. Since, ya know. Things break. Lol

My spare is a medium and the one on the pistol is the small. I should try the medium and see how it feels. My hands are average size, so the medium may be better.

Based on other comments, it looks like what they shipped over time as grips varied even when there were two.

Probably what they had in stock??
I guess having an option made it sell better at some point in time at a higher price. With the Academy special, it became an inexpensive truck gun.

And taking out the extra grip and holster let them use a smaller case.

There's been quite a variation on packaging as well as the pistol itself over the years. In 2012, mine (9mm) came in a cardboard box with 1 mag and 2 grips (small and medium). A buddy bought one about 2 years later with a plastic fitted box, holster, 2 mags. Mine was $100 cheaper.

The Large grip was made for the SP2009/SP2340 so they say SIGPRO on the grip instead of SigSauer. Both will still fit.

I talked to Sig today and, per the representative, the large grips simply no longer exist. They did suggest I try a Hogue grip to add a little bulk, so iíll try that. Mine came with a medium, so unless I can find one of the scarce large grips, iíll just try the Hogue and go from there. And now I know for myself that Sigís customer service really is as helpful and friendly as people have said, the rep didnít have what I wanted, but he was still familiar and pointed me in the right direction. Thanks all!

Any luck with the Hogue grips? I bought a 2nd SP2022 and was disappointed no "medium large" grip module.
