Picked up a P227 SAS model a few years ago. Expensive purchase for my budget. The gun is in like new condition and I was considering selling it and getting a 1911 9mm Officers.
Trying to sell or trade locally. No interest what so ever. Talked with the owner of a local LGS and he stated there is just no interest in them in this market.
I really do not want to take a bath in selling this
gun but dang...
Just venting and I thank you for listening.
They may not have resell value, never looked because I'd never sell mine. But the Grand Powers I have are 2 of best guns I own. The trigger is better than my X5's straight out of the box. Not my favorite sights but that's easily fixed.
Market is down right now. Several LGS in my area have cut back everyone's hours. They had a P227 in the used case for about a month before it sold. My girl friend bought a Ruger LC9 with a laser a few years ago for around $400. The exact gun is on the used market for around $200 now, which means she might get $100 at best on a trade in.
Was at the LGS on Sunday and a guy brought in an AR15 with all kinds of toys added. I never did see the brand. The LGS said they would take a chance and give him $500 and maybe sell it for $1K if they were lucky. You can buy new for less.
Not every purchase guarantees a good return for any brand.
As far as concealed carry, I don't notice any difference between a P229 SAS and P227 SAS and both fit in my N82 IWB holster - the only factor I need to consider is with one magazine do I want to have 18 rounds of 9mm or 11 rounds of .45 caliber available. As a former LEO who carried a TOTAL of 18 rounds of .357 for many years, I'm comfortable with either.
Long ago I learned two basic facts:
1) Whatever gun brand/caliber/model (or anything else for that matter) someone else likes or dislikes doesn't apply to me.
2) I choose to spend my money on what I decide.
My suggestion: Keep the P227 - one day you'll regret selling it.
