Wow, did the market swallow these things up, just month ago CDNN sports had over a 100 .40 barrels. Now that don't have any, I guess I snoozed and lost.

Yep, lets hope everyone believes that and 357 sig also. The prices will drop.

I stopped in a local pawn shop last week and heard the owner tell a customer that wanted to sell a P226 357 sig

that he could only give him $200 for it because he would have to sit on it forever because he couldn't move anything in .40 cal or 357 sig.

EVERYONE was going back to 9mm. When the customer was about to leave another customer offered him $500 for it.

Needless to say, both customers were happy.

The .40 S&W ain't goin' anywhere.

Law enforcement agencies issue a handgun & cartridge combo, but cops are able to carry a gun & cartridge combo that is agency approved. There might be agencies that don't allow individual cop discretion when it comes to on-duty carry. I don't know of any. For instance, while the FBI has apparently decided to issue handguns chambered for the 9MM, its cops can buy & carry other gun & cartridge combos that are approved.

Just a guess: less than 50% of FBI cops will carry their agency's issued handgun.

My P239 is chambered for the .40 S&W, which ain't far behind the venerated .45 ACP. I do own a 3" 1911 9MM. The .40 S&W is a more powerful cartridge. The trade off is fewer rounds. My EMP 3 is easier to carry. But I prefer the .40 S&W vis-a-vis the 9MM.

A Utah black bear guide told me that the .40 S&W tears up black bears. And he crawls into bear caves to get 'em out. That dude had a huge set of juevos...and a lot of faith in his .40 S&W.
