I had one. I loved it as a carry gun. Mine was in 9mm and was DAK. I had issues with extractor and ejector and sent it back to SIG. They said that because it was discontinued they could not fix it. I got a P225-A1 back.

Weird. I bought one over the summer and it had a FTF issue. They took it back right away and it was back in my hands within 5 days.

For conceal carry the 365 is probably a better choice, lighter, thinner and you can get parts and spare mags easily. I see some of the 224's are being listed as rare and valuable. If you are looking for "shooter" rare means hard to get parts for. They died due to lack of demand I feel because of "chunkieness" [is that a word?....lol].

I love my 224 Extreme .40. I also have a 357 Sig Barrel. I have both the regular mags and the 224 extended mags. I also have a few of the sleeves for my 229 mags that make them "fit" the 224. With the extended mag, it is VERY comfortable to hold and shoot. With the short mag (I have HUGE hands) it is still shootable but would not call it comfortable. My 224 Extreme SRT is easily my best factory (non Burked) trigger. I only bought it because it was such a DEAL, but actually really like it.

Love my 224 SAS! It's very comfortable to carry and holds more 9mm ammo than the HK P30sk. It's too bad it was discontinued. Had it been marketed by SIG it may have had more support. I think they were also pushing the 320 concomitantly and the 224 was not promoted as much. I enjoy mine very much.

I have a 224 da/SA model in 40. I got it from my lgs after it sat for a year and a half in the used cabinet. It was marked 600, so I passed on it.
9 months later I offered 400 for it, no go. Waited then the dump 40 started and no demand for forty hit at the same time. The shot now had a glut of 40's. So I offered 350 and they countered with 375. Out the door it went.

First time I shot it I had misgivings but I found the gun was controllable. Now it is my carry gun on 100 degree days here in Texas.

On a side note, with gunbroker.com for factory extended mags. They usually listed in the 229 group. Picked up two that way.

I have a 9mm sas that shoots great. Extra mags that they offered way back then are still sealed in plastic.
Really like it as far as I remember but it was never bought to carry.
One day I may sell or trade for something else but until then it has friends in the safe.
