Been on a Sig obsession for quite some time now, so I’m forced to purchase one. Didn’t have to convince myself that hard though haha. Anyways I’m looking to buy a MK25. Is there anything I should know before buying one? Has anything been changed on them thoughout the years or are they all the same? Second question I want to purchase a light for it, most likely gonna be a Surefire X300. I’ve read they have fitment issues. How true is this? The X300 comes in 2 configurations A or B. Would one of these be better suited to fit?
I’m 99.9% I’ll be picking one up tomorrow, as long as my LGS still has it in stock. Only bummer is mine will come with 10 rounders but oh well, laws are terrible here.
Will do. I really wish forums would make an easier option for uploading pics. I always to have to use Flickr, resize, than use some code, drives me nuts.
I have a MK25 in the OHT configuration. I love the pistol. The odd wear on the barrel from the coatings, did take some getting used to. Otherwise, great pistol. Especially with 20 + 1 capacity!
Are you talking about the top of the barrel where it locks up? I have two MK25's (both were purchased used), and the bluing on the flat part of the barrel where it locks up is worn pretty good
Welcome to Sig Talk from the southwest corner of Indiana.
The "fitment" issues are with some of the other model Sigs, that have the propriety Sig specification rail. The Mk25 has a true Picatinny specification rail, so you should not have a problem. The problem with the Sig rail can be minimized by finding a light with multiple "keys" to fit the cross slots, which stabilize fore and aft movement, and bear the brunt of the recoil. The same can be said of the Mk 25 also, if the light is not designed for a Picatinny specification rail.
The P226 Mk25 was on my bucket list, I was able to purchase one a couple years ago. It has been a very good pistol giving me no problems. Be safe and enjoy
Well just bought it! Gonna try and pick it up tonight. Just gotta go back and forth to put it on my license. Anyone who lives on Long Island, ny knows the struggle.
My MK25 is 2012 production, IIRC. It has not been used very much, but performance has been flawless with a variety of factory 9mm ammunition. I've seen some discussion as to whether or not the hard chrome bores might have been eliminated on later production. I don't know the answer on that issue. I'm not aware of any negative issues with any particular years of production. I'm using an old Insight M3X light on mine. Fits the MK25 Picatinny spec rail properly. I definitely prefer the Picatinny type rail on the MK25 over the proprietary rail SIG uses on most other models.......ymmv
MK25 is the only P226 I have. I've had a couple of other P226s in the past but sold them all.
Although I prefer the P229 size better but when things went to hell, the Mk25 is the one I'd carry with me with a couple of 18/20rd mags and a TLR-1 light. I'd probably keep a P229 in the backpack though )
I just purchased my MK25 last week and am extremely happy. The finish wear I have seen (620 rounds down-range already believe it or not) was anticipated and is a regular point fo discussion....don't let that translate to concern.
