I order a couple P229 grips when I bought a locking insert. They sent me this 1200337-01-R says its for a P229 any version but is labeled "slim" on the bag

It does not fit on a p229 or P228

What is this grip?

Notice how it is not curved like the other on the back

Look at the "Code" on the inside, to see manufacture date. There was once upon a time, a possibility of a 2 piece E2 sized grip, which this may have been 1/2 of the "set"! The lack of "arch" signals to me, the longer E2 Hammer Strut, and short Mainspring Seat... (Hammer-Strut-8 and Mainspring-Seat-2)
as shown below...

Had it been converted to the E2 style mainspring assembly? Pictures help!

If it doesn't fit, it must be something on the inside like the mainspring assembly or trigger bar spring that is causing them not to fit. The frames are externally the same (the exception is the trigger guard on -R models has a point).

You're saying the grip doesn't have a date code molded in like these?

Post a picture of the inside of the grip, so we can at least see the reinforcement ribs...

No code, I do know what that is

I bought this not knowing it had a different configuration the "slim" aspect.
It was to replace the worn grips on a P228 but the old main spring housing got in the way.
It was actually semi-wrong to say it does not fit "any" P229 type as it does screw in fine to the new E2 type but because it is "slim" and I only have the right grip that is "slim" it does not match the left grip hence does not fit but if i had the left "slim" grip it would work with a pistol with the new mainspring configuration.
I did not know there was such a things as a "slim" set of grips so did not realize I was ordering something that required a "pair" of the same "slim" grips so now I have a right "slim" grip with no left "slim" grip and perhaps one day I will find the poor right one a mate but until then he will remind me of the more I think I know the more I become aware of how little I know, so pretty much par for the course

Anyone have a left "slim" grip for sale?

I believe SIG discontinued those P229 slim grips because they were literally too thin, material-wize. While I never owned a set myself, I have heard owners complain that their thin grips flexed and squeaked when firing their P229s. I tried to buy a set but the seller backed out saying he felt guilty because he thought they were defective because they flexed and squeaked. I think he got a better offer.
