Anyone had Sig refinish or bead blast their gun? P220 ST

I bought a used "red box" Sig P220 ST. Its a great gun but has some wear that id like to clean up. Its all stainless and would like to either send it back to Sig for a frame and slide bead blast finish or shine it up a bit myself. Anyone done this? Id like to see some brighter SS guns or a before and after of a SIG job. Also thought about having sig install night sites if i send it in.

The first pic is of my actual P220ST.
The second is what id like it to look like if i refinish it.

Thanks

Not sure if this is of concern . . .

I have a bead blast cabinet and have found, in some applications, a bead blast finish on stainless can show wear and scratches more than a polished finish. Of course giving the blemish a quick bead blast erases them like magic, but so will a few minutes with polishing compound on the shiny one.

Yeah, that matte finish can easily get burnished to shiny marks if bumped against something, or over time if carried in a holster. But I like the look.

Your "polished" photo, is I believe a nickeled early model, and not stainless... but even polished, it can "mar" much like what you trying to eliminate, as stainless itself in this alloy isn't "hard" like plating to reduce the effect.

I have one like yours, and have wondered myself... as mentioned, Sig will bead blast both the frame and slide on stainless models, but if you are a "perfectionist" the results probably won't last long enough, considering the cost... $109.95 + shipping ($55 round trip) for both.

You "could" have them possibly put a Nitron finish on both, although they don't list that option... https://www.sigsauer.com/custom-shop/

I’m not sure what grit Sig uses. This P220-ST was blasted with Glass Bead MIL No. 13 (170-320 grit) at 60 psi, purchased in small quantity from an _bay seller. I would have liked the somewhat finer glass media from brownells but it's sold in a large quantity only. I used a “medium grit” from harbor freight, which was more course, on a P229 slide and the result wasn’t terribly different in appearance. I do like the result on the ST a bit better.

Here's one of mine

Sig has done several of mine from black to stainless. I also had 2 used SS elites that I had done, and they looked like new when done.
