P320 40 cal feed issue

P320 40 cal. Brand new with 100 rounds of 180 grain FMJ Aguila, experiencing failure to feed thru 4 different sig mags. Upon inspection of the barrel, I have found a severe gouge to the ejection side lockup tab, and rubbing mark's on the other side. Question is, should I send it back, or have a gun Smith look it over and get his opion?

Maybe you should do plunk test. If you don't know what that is Google it first . You should also own a case gauge too . You can randomly check a few rounds of ammo with any new ammo to you or new lot number . Sig barrels are far tighter than say , m&p and glock so ammo need to be quality ammo .

I have carried a 40sw p320c for almost 4.5 years . I have tried only a few HST 180gr but I tend to be a 155gr 165gr in a pinch going back to '90 . I tend to start getting to know a new handgun with ammo I hope to carry . Good ammo not lower quality fodder . I use mainly speer gold dot bullets for carry and coated swc for practice .
The rub on the left sides ok but right side is not , that ones rouged up . Send it home but check your ammo with the plunk test and test some quality ammo too !!

Don't let some local smith look at a weapon that still has a useful factory warranty .

Thankyou for the usefull information. Going to send it back to Sig. That same day with the same ammo, it fed thru my glock 23, and my Rock Island armory 1911 in 40, also a Berretta cx-4 storm carbine that is mag fed thru the grip without an issue.
