Cool Sig Sauer P290

Just joined the forum...I was searching for a warm weather CCW carry weapon and I have to say,I made a great choice. Shot quite a few of the subcompact 9's and I my choice was the P290. Heavy compared to the competition but ultra reliable and point of aim hits out to 20 yds. The siglite sights are the best I've used,(our dept. uses the S&W M&P 40 w/ trtiums). But the P290 is accurate beyond comparison!!! I have owned a P220 in the past but had strayed away from Sig until now. The fit and finish over the stainless slide is excellent. Best striker fired pocket 9 on the market!!!

I had my first opportunity to handle a 290 this past weekend and I must say I was more impressed than I thought I would be on the feel of the pistol. It felt thinner than it looked.

Welcome to the forum from Pennsylvania.

I love my P290. Just got it back from Sig for 5,000 round tuneup and conversion to the P290RS trigger system which I really like. Seemed a little longer pull but not bad for a CCW.

I agree on the accuracy, best small 9mm I have ever shot.

How much did your Sig work cost ?

I'm way below 5,000 rounds with my pre-RS P290 First Edition.
I'm at about 1,000 rounds, and haven't had any of "the problems".
But, the RS trigger conversion interests me.

Thanks in advance,
Dan

It's definitely the most accurate "pocket" gun out there right now. At first touch, the gun feels a little top heavy but, as you begin to get used to shooting it, you realize that's where the control/accuracy is coming from.

I bought one of the early P290s and it was/is a disaster. Light strikes and it dropped almost every mag I inserted. It was a true POS. Sig took it back 2x and it now goes bang just about every time but the mag release doesn't work correctly.

I then bought one of the recently released P290 RS models. A world of difference. I'm at about 600 rounds in that gun without a single failure of any kind. I would recommend the RS version to anyone. And yes, agreeing with someone above, the pull on the RS version is noticeably longer and heavier than on the earlier model. It doesn't bother me.
