Interesting that the P220 single stack .45 is STILL in production. Maybe those two extra rounds donít mean so much?
For a lot of people, two extra rounds doesn't justify the weight of that hefty P227. I like the gun, but if I carry a .45, it will generally be my P220 due to its lighter weight and narrower dimensions. And you can get the 10-rounds in a narrower +2 extended magazine meaning that the backup mag(s) you carry will be lighter and easier to conceal (depending on how you carry, of course).

If I want to carry a high-capacity .45ACP, it will be the 100% reliable FN America FNX-45, with 15+1 rounds on tap, and can be operated with the same manual of arms as a P220 or P227.

The only reason I bought the P227 was the promise of the 14-round magazines. I was excited to get a SIG high-capacity .45ACP after losing my shirt unloading a 14+1 Para-USA Black Ops, and over $400 worth of magazines, that the factory could never get to feed reliably.

Then the P227 14-round magazines had constant issues feeding.

And that led me to the purchase of the FNX-45 that has zero issues with any ammo I've tried.

I've since fixed the 14-round P227 mag feed issue with aftermarket springs. SIG should have fixed the issue with a better mag spring but they never did. Ultimately, they discontinued the 14-round mags, making it, essentially, a fat P220. Sorry, a "big-boned" P220. A "gravitationally-challenged" P220?

Anyway, I like the gun but I have never, and will never, carry it. Too many better alternatives in different calibers or in actual, reliable, high-capacity .45ACP guns (e.g. FNX-45).

Oddly their bb guns, optics that need outside power sources and such might be diversification in the eyes of business majors but it is exactly the opposite of the gluuck business model of make one thing and make it right. Its seems to work for those socialists, maybe Cohen ought to try that too when he gets out of BundesJail.

Sig has been firing and laying off employees for ages now, there stories riddle the net. Needing people and crapping on your people.....oh yeah that's another policy of those over educated business majors. So, no change for the future.

I was going to purchase a FNX-45 but thankfully found one to rent before doing so. Absolutely hated the feel of the grip, especially so after shooting a couple of magazines through it. To each his own but I have no such issues with my P220 Scorpion. If I were to look at a higher capacity .45 it would be the Glock 21.

Oh, I agree. It feels like holding a rough-hewn 2x4.
But somehow, I'm able to shoot it accurately. I still never carry it. I keep carrying my SIG Classic P-series pistols. Just not my P227.
I currently carry my P220 SAS Gen 2 Carry.

I’m a member of a Sig oriented Facebook group and one of the members, who claims to work for Sig, seems to think that the 227 is not being discontinued. He believes that just because it’s off the website, that it doesn’t mean it’s also off the shelf.

In the past, has Sig ever officially announced the end to a product line? This seems like a strange way to go about it.

To your point, I thought the P220 Scorpion was discontinued sometime in 2017 but was surprised when I received mine a few months ago and it had a born-on date of Feb-2018.

I'm probably going to grab one just in case it's been discontinued.

True I'm sure everyone remembers last year and the website with its anomalies and the introduction of the 365.

They can discontinue it as long as they bring the 229 SSE back. Dropping that is about as dumb as car companies dropping cars...

The better dealers get notified of products being discontinued. Some will publish it on their website.

Most recent was the discontinuation of the entire P239 model (all variants).

I haven't seen a list for 2019 yet.

Your probably OK as I havenít purchased one. I got a NIB 224 9mm and then it was discontinued. Got a NIB 239 40 S&W and it was discontinued. Those are the only NIB Sigs I have ever purchased.

Well, when was the P250 line dropped from the website?

Here is a P250 .45 born 07-Aug-2018

Nothing to say they wont periodically make more of anything - if they think they can make money on it

Just buy used please 😆
Pretty sure you'd be safe with a NIB 229, but why risk it

The p227 has intrigued me since it came out. I generally like E2 grips, just not how they grab skin and start looking tan and caked with skin over time. I just can’t find a real need for one, the sas model doesn’t interest me because I don’t like the ergos of the 229 and don’t like a sub 4” barrel .45. The full-size model is cool, but I would just take a p226 or p220 10mm if going with a larger gun.

If it comes to pass that the 227 becomes extinct take a close at the CZ 97b. When I got mine I sold my 227 and never looked back. I have some Para 14 round mags that work flawlessly in mine but I've read that isn't always the case.
