Magazine issues, and unreliability were the issues?

She is a great pistol.

Just problems with the feeding of the 14-round extended capacity mags.
Everything else is basically a P220. The P227 is a very reliable gun when using the standard 10-round mags. But the mag springs in the 14-round mags were too weak.

What do you recommend for springs for the 14rd magazines?
Wolf have some, or since these mags are discontinued, there are no replacements?

Own many of the 14 rounders, but was unaware til a week ago when I red it in here, so I thought ide join. Read and lurked here for many years!

So stoked, I just scored a P227 R3 on gunbroker for under $700 - slowly becoming a unicorn

I'm sorry I missed your follow-up question.

Get Wolff's +10% springs for the Para 14-round mags. They take a little finesse to guide them into the magazine body but they work 100% without modification. I have had no issues since installing those. I do have to use a magazine loader to fully load the mags. Those springs are pretty stiff.

You can buy individual springs (SKU 76071), or a pack of three (SKU 76073) or a ten-pack (SKU 76074).

One of the best handguns out there. The description on the web says "Once they eliminated the 14 round mag, all the P227 was is a fatter P220 that holds only 2 extra rounds - which you get with the +2 mag for the P220 in a much thinner package". What they aren't getting through their thick heads, is many people who have big hands (umm, a lot of men) like the fatter grip. As another post here said, why wold they get rid of such a great gun with 20+ 1911 models and P238 options?? No sense! Will never get rid of mine.

That's exactly why I picked up a P227 SAS and I'm selling the only P220 I own.

Now I’m debating if I still want to sell my P227 SAS or if I should keep it.

I have the full-size Equinox. I used to have a full-size Nitron from the first production run. I decided to sell it to another forum member. I didn't think I needed two, but part of me wishes I had kept it. That's normal when selling a gun. I'll get over it. But I'm keeping my Equinox.

I have three. With the new springs, the 14 rounders are awesome. Now why won't MecGar make 227 mags?

And SIG forgets there are successful double stack 45/10mm Glocks out there, with 6" barrels if you want them. SIG's focus seems to be P320/P365 only these days with anything other than a P226 being an afterthought.

I like my FNX-45 with 15+1 rounds of Federal 230gr HST +P goodness.
