P226 Slide Reassembly Issuel

Greetings All,

I am a relatively new Sig owner having traded in my Gen 4 Glock 19 for my 1994 Sig P226.

I have field stripped my Sig P226 several times (after every session) and cleaned it and reassembled without any problems. I installed the E2 grip kit with the required new main spring and hammer block and new decock lever and trigger bar spring all without any problems. I have been to the range at least three times and ran approx 100 rounds through it since these chages were made to it without any issues what so ever.

However, I just had my slide refinished(black cerakoted)and picked it up today. Everything look nice so I added my oil and grease to the regular locations, installed the barrel, guide rod and spring and then went to put the slide back on.

This is where the problem started. The slide will not go back far enough now to engage the slide lock. I can take the spring and guide rod and barrel out of the slide and it goes back to the normal slide lock position with out any problem. I install the barrel, guide rod and spring and once again I have the same problem. I am not sure where the problem is. I have tried probably 20 times now to get it install properly and it isn't going to happen.

I suspect that maybe something in the slide was installed incorrectly by the local gunshop that did the cerakote job for me. I looked but unfortunately I am not knowledgeble enough on the Sigs to visually tell if something is out of postion or not. Any ideas anyone?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Pics of the slide internals would be a big help.

Note - having any part of a gun refinished is a risky undertaking. I strongly advise against it. There are many who claim to be able to do so and return the gun to you still within slide/frame variance tolerance but, in reality, you can count the shops in the U.S. that can do so on one hand. That's why you see so many guns up for auction/sale with an explanation that "I just got this back yesterday from X refinisher and it works and looks great! In fact, it works so great that I can't wait to sell it to you!" If I were to surrender to the notion of sending a Sig slide to be refinished, it would be to Sig or to Robar. That's it.

Thank you for the input.

I figured out what it was with some help from a good fellow on another Sig site. The muzzle of the slide had a little to much Cerakote on it preventing the barrel from tilting up and with a little light buffing with some emory cloth it fixed it right up. The slide went on and functioned like a charm afterwards.
