Lead remover cloth

Had anybody ever use one of these? I am using it for the first time right now to clean my barrel and it seems to work pretty good.

Are you using the cloth cut into patches or are you using a Lewis lead remover?
Hoppes makes a lead removing cloth that I have used on stainless guns to clean
around the forcing cone and the face of stainless cylinders. Be careful as it will
take bluing off quicker than your mom wiped your nose when you were a kid.

just the one you can cut into patches. This may be a stupid question, but I am still pretty new to guns. How bad is lead for our guns?

I've used it to remove the residue on the front of my revolver cylinders. It worked good. I haven't needed to use it on my semi-autos.

Shooting cast lead bullets can leave traces of lead in the barrel. As this builds up
it strips more lead from each additional bullet which can cause accuracy to fall off.
The lead can also trap moisture in the barrel that can lead to pitting. If you haven't
shot a lot of lead bullets you can fired several jacketed bullets that will tend to wipe
the lead out of the barrel. If you shoot cast exclusively you will need to remove the
lead with either chemical or mechanical cleaners. Shawn

I used to shoot a lot of Combat Matches with a 1911 and I shot my own Hard Cast Bullets. They were alloyed to be very hard and did not have a problem with lead build up, but I did fire FMJ cratridges to clean the bore. The only problem after firing copper jackets is that lead will sometime tend to build up more. After the cleaning rounds with te FMJ rounds, I would then clean with the Lewis Lead Remover. This little wire patch really dida great job of keeping the bore clean!!!!!
