Well, it looks as if I was wrong, they might have done a little grip modification, as you have the original mainspring assembly.

To possibly lighten your pull, and at least make it a little smoother, you can install a later Mainspring assembly.

The newer mainspring is rated at 21#, while the older one you currently have is rated at 24#... many here go as low as 17#, but others stay at the recommended 19# to assure no light primer strikes.

Any good quality grease works well, many here use automotive/marine grade grease, which isn't much different, except much cheaper than the smaller quantity offered by sporting goods retailers at higher prices. Check here in the sticky section of the Gunsmithing section for recommendations. The thing with using grease in the high load areas, is that it stays in place, and doesn't run off. It doesn't take much, and you replenish it after you clean after firing.

A good source for older Sig parts is Robertson's in Henderson, TN. He has ads on GB.

Nice looking gun. I'm with Bearone2 about the cerakote. I had a KA that was cerakoted OD Green.
I use Rem Oil or Hoppes oil, but once I run out I'll probably switch to Mobil One. As far as grease goes, I went overboard & bought a tube of Lucas red n tacky. It'll still be almost full when I'm gone & I got 4 pistols, two rifles and a shotgun. The reason I bought it is that it was less than $5. Compared to the price of "gun grease", it was a good deal.
Good luck.

Nice purchase. P226, especially in "German" flavor, is a bonus. Enjoy!
