232 case extraction

I'm looking at buying a 232. Because of the blow back extraction is the case deformed during extraction? I would like to reload this round without problems. The reason I ask is I had an HK4 that chewed up the cases. Does the 323 do the same thing? Thanks.

Smile P232

I have a new P232 and I haven't noticed any chewing of the casings - but I plan to shoot it again tomorrow so, if it helps you out, I'll bring home some casings and post some close-ups.

shot today w/HPR ammo ... collected 5 casings and I don't see that any of them are mangled. I left my camera at the office so I will definitely post a pic/close-up of the casings tomorrow night.

Thanks. HK4 just mangled those cases but that is a pretty old model. Jim

Attached are some pics of the HPR casings from my P232. The close-up is out of focus but I think you can still see that the rim is undistorted. The only thing I can see is a small dimple on some of the casings towards the base (maybe from the mag?) but they really don't look mangled or distorted to me. I don't reload so I really don't have any idea as to what condition is required - so sorry that I can't offer more of an expert opinion. But here goes:

Thanks.

Those cases are fine. Guess I need a 232. HK4 would put very deep gouges in the base when the extractor grabbed it. Needless to say it extracted brass with authority.

I love my P232. My brass is fine after shooting. I have the blued version because it is lighter. I also put some P230 grips on her that I found on E-Bay because the are much thinner for concealment. Best ten bucks that I ever spent.
