Learned today that Sig discontinued my favorite pistol. The safest, simplest carry pistol yet manufactured. How did that happen? What kinda gun fighters we got today? Tactical force on force 18 shot, all that matters is bullet count?
carry is designed around street fight. 3 shots , 3 seconds , 3 yards.
This is the first I am hearing of this model - what a beauty! I usually carry a Kimber Ultra Covert in 45, but I sure would like this one in my rotation!
Rustytxrx, it's kind of like accessory rails... some like them some don't. I'm from the latter group, but just as you mentioned with the SAS previously, to me an accessory rail in a carry piece, is a snag looking for a place to happen. The same can be said for a spurred hammer, and realistically, a DA/SA hammer spur could easily be eliminated, as on the DAO Hammers. With the Decocking Lever, the spur really isn't necessary. Of course with the DAO/DAK, you end up with a slimmer grip profile, because the Decocking Lever is eliminated.
So it's just a matter of what we individually like...
All of us have a funny way of thinking, that if there is a model that we love, somehow there must be tons of other folks who love the same gun, and that SIG NH must accommodate these folks and continue making small quantities of them guns to satisfy the need. I'm sure the DAK SAS SIGs are great gun for some. But, fact is, there is no significant demand for them. Why would SIG continue to make them, and a gazillion of other models that don't bring home the bacon.
Yes, Sir. For many reasons you are likely well aware of I have never gone out concealed carry equipped to defend force on force gun fight.
3 shot, 3 seconds, 3 yards. Actually a great deal of the time depending on plans I do not carry a backup mag on belt.
In Texas you shoot some one in a street fight, you have just committed murder. Now you get to prove it was justified. Many of these posts might well be presented by prosecutors. It could be a very expensive process. CYA, CYA, CYA. Some of the Prosecutors would like to make a name
A shooting like the one in Dallas when the five officers lost their life, I would be useless and in the way. The last thing I am going to do is pull my weapon and run any where. Priority threat, guy dressed in civics running with a gun.
As posted before this old geezer grew up with revolvers. Had some nice SA pistols for bullseye target work. Never cared for SA or DA/SA for carry. Began wishing for capacity and ease of reloading. Along came a P290...trigger wasn't great but 8 rounds and easy to carry and quick to reload. Then I found my P229 DAK. ABSOLUTELY my top choice if I need to defend in a bad situation. No change in trigger stroke, no decocker to remember with the adrenalin pounding in the aftermath. The 3rd gen S&W DAOs were close, but preferred the clean restrike of DAK. Truly great engineering. Now???
I have not abandoned Sig, but they have abandoned me...

I have a P239 Nitron in 357Sig with a DAK Trigger.
I Special ordered it thru a Super Elite Dealer in Nov 2014
and it still took Four months to be delivered.
Maybe They will make a Special Run of a DAK Model later,
Like the P226 Elite SAO in I think 2016 or 2017 but They decided to
make some more in February 2019 and I got one.
I wish They would make some more of the EQUINOXES Especially a P226 and P229 in 9MM
They just came out with a P239 Legion.
I have 226 DAK that sits in the nightstand. It won't win any competitions with the shot timer but it's my go to home defense pistol.
