Did I get a good deal on a new p229r

This is similar to an earlier post I had but much less confusing. I won a brand new p229r with 15rd mags and newer e2 grip on gunbroker for $540 shipped. I had held one at a gun shop and liked it a week or so ago however I went back last night and I think I actually prefer my german 2022 in both feel, fit and finish. Should I just take a chance on negative feedback and not pay for it or just go ahead and buy it. Around here its hard to sell sigs or expensive handguns so I dont want to get stuck with it. Also , do the newer sigs rust easily? I am bad about storing my guns for a long time and going back to find surface rust. I am a newbie guys so be easy on me.

A trick I use to prevent rust and slow down wear is to apply a coat of Jonston Paste Wax periodically

@ejirish- Its new in the box, I called the seller and talked to him about it. Its a big box store in Ohio and they listed it wrong by not putting p229r in the description but instead put the item number from Sig(E29R-9- . I had won another gun from them recently and was looking at their other auctions and discovered the flub and watched the auction until it ended. Also , it was a no reserve auction I guess they thought it would go higher but it didnt.

Supohunter is the seller's name at Woodbury Outfitters in Ohio. I recently purchased a new SP2022/40 from their GBroker listing for $341 + post. A good transaction in all regards. And joeboxer - feel free to not pay for that item that you won at auction - if you want to be a guy who renegs on money deals. I really don't care one way or the other, as I purchased another pistol on GBroker after someone failed to make good their bid. Someone will buy it, but it makes additional work/headaches for the seller. Up to you. Cheers.

Tuica- I don't want to renig on the deal . I really didn't think I would win the auction for my bid but I did surprisingly. I am just trying to get funds together to pay for it . I like it but weirdly I think I like my 2022 better.

That is an excellent price... In California, P229's go for about $900...

Balking on deals you win on sites like Gunbroker I suspect are the biggest fears by sellers on these sites and will likely result negatively on your user record if you wish to use the service again.

It's a phenomenal deal for a phenomenal firearm, if you can get the coin together to commit to your agreement I would do so. Balking on a deal is ill advised in person and virtually IMO.

Understand that this is an awesome price and although I'm no appraiser of firearms I suspect you will likely be able to trade that NIB p.229 likely with enough cash back in hand to buy 500-1000 rounds of bulk ammo to put thru your new 2022, presuming you sell it privately, a little bit less if you trade it in at a gunshop.

Personally I would never trade a 229 for a 2022, no slight intended on the 2022 as it is a superb firearm also, but it seems to me you already have a commitment to a deal and if I'm thinking this out correctly, this is trade-in currency to get you the 2022 with money to spare. How much are the 2022's? Between $400-$440? Where I live a P229R is between $770 and $820 and purchases from LGS include sales tax also, something you sidestep with out of state purchases.

Jasonworthing- I already own a German SP2022 , I am not trading for one. I am going to go ahead and buy the p229r as I am obilgated to do . I am a compulsive person and bid on things for the deal factor not yet sure if its what I want and need. Thanks to everyone who gave me input on this decision, I guess my Sig collection will now be up to two.
