Grips for an MK-25 (E2 vs. G10)

I am considering changing the stock grips on my P226 MK-25. Right now, it has the stock grips, which I don't really take too much issue with, but I want to change it up a bit. I have large hands (I can palm a basketball), and want to try to find grips that will fit my hands. Here are the choices I have formulated.
1) Send it to SIG and switch to the E2 style grips
2) Get Hogue smooth G-10 grips
3) Get some form of Hogue textured G-10 grips
4) Don't fix what is not broken
I am leaning towards the smooth G-10 grips because I like the way they look, I don't really like the way the textured G-10 grips look. I also do not want something too aggressive, but do want a good grip. If the stock ones most likely fit big hands the best, I will leave them alone.

So it sounds like you are looking for a fuller grip than the stock Sig plastic panels on the MK25.
If that's the case , you don't want E2s. They make the grip smaller and shorten trigger reach. You may end up with too much finger across the trigger. I would recommed going with Hogue G10s or even wood grips. You probably would like the G10s but a lot of wood grips, like the Sig Rosewood grips, are even thicker.

For big hands - I'd stay with stock. They give a very good grip, but are not aggressive. Personally, I think the smooth g10s look good, but offer very poor shooting characteristics... Definitely need some texture. I do love the various models of textured g10 and aluminum grips.

IMO the E2 grips suck. They feel hollow and flimsy and flex under your hand even with a normal grip. They also fill up with dead skin from your hands and look nasty. I've got G10s on the way for my P224, and if I like them, another set will be ordered for my P227. All my other SIGs have the standard SIG polymer grips. I like them just fine.

I agree with you 100% Went thru 2 sets of E2's on my old 229. Kept turning "white" at the tops of left grip. Sig finally agreed to send 2 sets of Classic, polymer grips, at no charge.

Could not be happier with these grips. I have very long fingers and big hands and they feel perfect.

The same Factory Polymer Grips are installed on my P220, P228, and P239.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, just wanted to know if there was something that could be better for me than the stock grips. As I stated, I do by really seem to have an issue with them, but I haven't tried many other options either. I've pretty much eliminated the E2, as I wasn't completely sold on them before these responses reassured what I thought. I hadn't considered the rubber Hogues because I was worried about the durability. Are they durable? Or are they going to tear up and break down. I don't really like finger grooves, so I would be looking at the rubber ones without them like Mickey posted, and for that price I can afford to try them out. So that leaves the G10s, which I guess are in the middle.

I've had both e2 and g10 grips on my p226 combat. I wear size large gloves and I found the e2 to be too small for my taste. I have the checkered for the combat and plan on getting piranhas for my m11a1. For a more traditional look go with checkered and if they are too much grip you can sand them down with 400-600 grit sand paper. Then I believe its recommend to use mineral oil to restore the "finish".

Another vote for the G-10 Piranhas. They give good grip and aren't too abrasive. The Chain Link is much more abrasive. I don't care for the rubber grips for a concealed carry handgun, especially with a tucked in shirt with an IWB holster. I find the rubber clings to the shirt and impedes the draw. The E squared grips are gone from all of my guns that came with them. I don't care for them one bit. They strike me as another cost saving move by SIG, not in the best interest of their customers. But like a pair of shoes, what fits and appeals to one doesn't necessarily do the same for another.

completely agree, love mine. Just wish they were more PURTY. :p

Mike, Yours is the first pic of a MK25 I've seen with the Hogue rubber. Cover up the anchor and inventory mark, and it looks just like my TACOPS without front serrations. Makes me wonder if I really need a MK25.

Thanks guys for all the replies! Keep them coming. This is part of the issue, way too many choices! Those AL grips look amazing on that gun dcbrown88. I don't really like finger grooves that much, but would consider the rubber Hogues without them. I have to keep in mind I'm looking for what feels the best, not what looks the best. But as I said, I don't really have an issue now so maybe I should just leave them. (But those Aluminum grips are so pretty.....)

Yeah they're very nice and feel great. I have a 220 Scorpion and love the grips on that as well so I was originally thinking of putting those on the 226 but decided to spend the extra money on the aluminums. Can't say enough how much I like them. They're smaller than the factory grips so if you're looking for something bigger, you shouldn't go with these. For me, they feel much better in my hands than the factory grips.

My humble input:

Best grips for shooting; Hogue Rubber Finger Groove.
Prettiest grips: Sig Store Rosewood.
